This or Evolution?
I got interested in this game so, after some research, I found that this game has a PSVita Evolution version that for now is only in japanese.

I really want to know if XSEED will release an english version of Evolution (I don't mind if only for the Vita)

Thanks and good job, it must have been an immense work to translate that amount of kanji

Evolution will not be coming.

The evolution titles have a lot of licenses between various companies, since it isn't done by Falcom themselves. Which makes it difficult to bring over and Xseed have stated that it will not come over.

Evolution is just a remake of the first game in any case and doesn't really add much to the game. The PC edition is excellent in its own right if you're considering which platform to get these games on since the programmer often releases updates to fix or add things to the already incredibly polished games.

Second Chapter is getting an Evolution too. It's due out on December 10th in Japan.

If you can read Japanese and own a PSVita, then the HD remake with full voice acting. If not then this is all you got.

It doesn't change the fact that both are just remakes that change the art style for no reason, replace Falcom's excellent musical score and add voices when they aren't even needed in this kind of game. Both game's on Steam have been updated to be HD also so that isn't something the Evolution remakes can claim to have over them.

(Yes, I'm biased against the Evolution versions. -.-)

Evolution versions are NOT remakes. They are just Vita ports with some changes promoted as improvements, but a lot of fans actually see those changes with bad eyes. The main appeal is that it's fully voiced.

I'm sure that the English PC versionswill be the best versions available for the Trails games.

This is the best version of the original game on the market, no contest. A lot of the Evo changes are very tasteless and generic (in my opinion).

Yes, regardless of any opinion on the Evo version features, they are all but certainly not coming to the American market. Unless you can read Japanese fluently (and I mean fluently, for Trails) don't wait for them to be exported. Pick up the versions out now.

The only Evos worth the money are Zero and Ao.

The rest just suffers from same face syndrome. It can't be helped if it's to attrack new players.

Actually, the art style in Zero/Ao is the same as FC EVO, just look at some characters that appear in both like Olivier, Kilika and Julia.

Actually, I think Zero has a different artist from every other game.

Falcom started using a new artist since Zero/Ao, and their PS Vita counterparts are identical to the originals for PSP. Nobody said anything about the new art style because it wasn't that big of an issue and because the focus was on new characters. Olivier also looks the same as Olivier in the 3rd. He didn't suffer mayor changes a la Joshua you see in Sora Evo.

However, the artist doing Sora Evo is different to the artist that did Zero/Ao. They are different people. Of course, this new artist would try to copy the original artwork so to make the art styles look consistent. The mayor ♥♥♥♥-up is how this artist made Joshua, and how the character's facial expressions are the same. Also, the lack of expressions the old art style had.

Evo isn't an HD remake. It's a Vita port. The Vita doesn't actually output HD, the Vita TV even only goes to 720p. If the game supports it. This was a port that had new (read: not better) artwork, some additional features and voice acting put in, they also remastered the soundtrack which is kinda eh, some titles are improvements while others are worse off than they were before.

It doesn't have a PC version. It likely won't have one ever.

And it's not going to be localized. So there's really only value in grabbing it if you can read Japanese. Even then I suggest reading reviews for it before considering any further.

The PC versions on Steam are about as good as you're ever going to get on the PC at least.

I'd say it's more like a remaster, since the music has been remade in addition to the voices being added.
