All I can advice is use clock up and forte as soon as you can (you should be able to have clock up on both characters and forte on one) and get ready to use EP charge every few turns, because with so little EP you will need it a lot.
- first, you can grind a little by killing the Shining Poms in the Wood. I got both Anelace and Estelle to level 43 that way, and it does help (a little...maybe...)
- do not specialize Estelle and Anelace, make sure they both can take some punishement., the reason being...
- get Al Tear on a character (Estelle in my case), you only need two blue quartz to do so. Make sure to equip Cast also. Then, in the Tactical menu, regroup Anelace and Estelle in one of the furthest corner of the checkerboard. As soon as the battle begin, make them flee in a corner, and stick together. That way, the Jaeger cannot push them apart, and you can sometimes "gain" a turn by healing both characters in one action, very very usefull.
- as for Craft uses, I filled both meters of course, and ended up using Estelle's Barrage at the beginning of the fight, then recasting it as soon as she reached 100. Never ever use Anelace S-craft, you'll need her AT delay.
- use your items. Tear and Al Tear can only heal for 1000, if you see that you won't be able to heal in time, use one of your precious Balm that heals for 2000.
- pray Aidoss, because even with all this, the Jaeger can still two-shot you whenever he feels like it, with some nasty unlucky combo like Charge+Charge.
no, that fight in hard is unfair, but myhr2's advices are great. another thing, the "revive" necklaces saved my fight and allowed me to beat the guy, remember to use 'em.
Bleh ...
Hard difficulty is plenty doable. Might be a smidge harder if you don't have the Luck quartz but it still shouldn't be too bad if you keep your cool and play your cards right.
sometimes (in my experience, almost always) he decides to do 2-3 or even 4 attack in a row, and keeps spamming heal arts when he's <50% hp. But I agree, except for that battle I'm finding the hard difficult doable and fair, especially when you get new people in the party or new equipment in chapter 1.
