So... fishing...
Other than the achievement, is there like a grand reward for it? like, do you get the best equipment or orbment in the game for doing something related to fishing (find all fishes, fishing areas, the legendary fish, something like that)? I didn't find all the fishing areas on my first and current playthrough due to lack of interest, but then I remembered the whole annoying book sidequest in the first game.

catching the big legendary fish gives you access to a shop where you can buy bait

aside from all the little things you can get as drops like sepitth or accessories

And do i need to do some elaborate sidequest to acquire a certain fishing rod and bait to get that fish?

The main benefit of fishing is to farm sepith i think.... That said it's kinda pointless in SC cuz you have a huge surplus of sepith regardless

you get the best fishing rod by getting to a certain bracer rank

I think you can get some accessories like the Muppets and some healing items.

So just accessories, heals, sepiths, and fishing stuff? anything "exclusive" like recipes or something?

nope.

the major draw accessories are the tiger heart and crimson eye, which are some of the better choices in specialized stat boosters you can get

You get monster drops from them too, like Lucky Fangs. It helped me during a certain sidequest in the Ruan region.

Mira, sepith, monster drops, some good items, one funny quest in rolent.
You can just ignore fishing, but I dare you to catch pearglass for that quest in rolent.

it was pretty easy (least for me) to get that pearglass on the first try (dont hurt me)
