Game movies not playing

The movies in this game will not play for me the screen just stays black. I had this problem with the first chapter as well so I just disabled the movies and watched them on youtube. Unless someone has a way to solve this problem I will do the same with chapter two.

So does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem? If not can someone tell me a list of the movies and where in the game they play? Is it the same as the first chapter just one at the beginning and one at the end?

Uninstall any 3rd party video codecs, media player or video capture/streaming software ... Make sure windows is as clean as possible.

There's a tool called codec tweak tool that can be used to fix directshow and check broken codecs.

Are you playing in fullscreen? Try to disable that.

I generated that using the codec tweak tool but I honestly have no idea what to do about any of it lol. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Jokes aside, codecs seem fine here. You can give it a stab at updating your GPU driver, it's slightly dated compared to the current driver which I just checked on the website for you.

(If you want a clean reinstall use Display Driver Uninstaller and then reinstall the driver normally)

You can also try toggling the windowed modes if you need so.

If you suspect your version of Windows may be corrupt try 'sfc /scannow' as an administrator in CMD.

If your version of Windows is Windows N you can try reinstalling WMP which may have an effect though unlikely.

lol so what you are saying is I can use my video card as a replacement grill =D. Ty for your help I will try to update my drivers and try it out.

I installed the latest drivers and ran the windows sfc scan which said there was no problems and also tried the game in both windowed and not and the started movie with the logo and such still stays black and I have to click to skip it so I assume all the movies still will =(.

Does anyone know how many movies there are and at what points in the game they are so I can just favorite them all on youtube and watch them as I play the game?

Strangely I opened the first game again and tried the movies through the movie option in the menu that appears if you have a clear save and the ending and next movies work just fine but the opening movie as well as the logo movie still do not work.

Not sure what kind of codec packs you installed. But I think your problem is definitely codec related. I do recommend CCCP codec pack though. I've used it for several years, and it has only given me 1 trouble which is easily resolved.

If you decided to try CCCP , uninstall all codec packs you have first then install CCCP.
If you already used CCCP, go to CCCP settings then choose CCCP system settings and reset system settings and re-register all components. I hope this solved your problem.

the only codecs I have installed are all from Microsoft and DivX according to some sherlock codex program I downloaded If I uninstall all of those will it mess anything on my computer up?

These are all of them I have according to the list in windows media player. Is there any program I can download that makes it easy to just uninstall which ones I want? Sorry as you can tell I am not very capable when it comes to all this technical stuff which is why I usually prefer playing games on console.
