Raz's NG Nightmare Boss Thread (spoilers obviously)
Need help with a boss? This will be the thread. A NG Nightmare game is a freakishly difficult endeavor frequented only by the bravest of brave and the mad. I, myself, am the latter so any advice I can give to my fellow gamers will naturally be quite sound. These strategies should be near foolproof on any difficulty not Nightmare so without further ado...

VITAL Items for a successful completion of the Prologue:

  • Luck quartz (from a full bp save transfer)
  • Emergency Puppet (also from said save transfer)
  • Celestial Balm (save transfer)
  • Proxy Puppet (found in a chest in the initial sewers)
  • Surprise Cookie (found in a chest in the initial sewers along with recipe)
  • Ingredients to make at least 12 more Surprise Cookies (bought from Phy BEFORE Estelle goes to bed the first day)
  • 5 Teara Balms (found in tent in the forest)

All items should be saved till needed (which will be stated).

Kurt

Stats:

Lvl: 40 HP: 4575
STR: 594 DEF: 371
ATS: 192 ADF: 88
SPD: 34 EXP: 150

Drops: Heaven's Eye

Notes: Hits for roughly 1200-1300. Has a defense buff which has a bad habit of gutting any physical damage you can do. Uses Whitecaps to heal for 500 anytime he's lower than 1.5k health. Has a ranged attack that hits for too much (see: 1400-1500) avoid "proccing" it like the plague. Make sure you have 200 cp saved for the fight after this.

Recommended lvl: 40+ (Preferably have Anelace at 41 though it's not mandatory)

Orbment Setups:

Estelle - Line Orange: Luck, HP 1, Evade 1, Mind 1
Line Blue: Luck, Defense 1, Cast 1, Action 1

Anelace - Line Orange: Evade 1, EP Cut 1, Attack 1
Line Blue: Evade 1, HP 1
Line Green: Evade 1, Impede 1, Action 1
Line Pink: Evade 1, your choice*

Recommended Gear:
Slot quartz so you have access to La Tear and Earth Guard. In order to get Earth Guard you'll have needed to transfer a full BP FC save to get the Luck quartz. Without said Luck quartz Kurt will likely smash your face in so beware. Action 1 is mandatory on both characters. Cast 1 on your Earth Guarder is technically a bonus but don't treat it as such.

*Hit 1 will negate the buff you get from Evade 1 but will allow less misses so it's a trade off. EP 1 will give such a small EP boost it's inconsequential.

Recommended Items: EP Charges (you'll need them trust me). I'd take no less then 5. Healing items will help. Revives shouldn't be mandatory but i'd obviously still bring them.

Positioning: Set your characters 1 row down from the top of the tactics grid and 1 square away from the horizontal edge. This is the furthest you can position from Kurt to not "proc" his ranged attack on you. Kurt will run up to you in his 1st or 2nd turn or so. Enjoy that one free turn you get...

General Strategy:
Earth Guard away! Use your support character to keep Earth Guard up (I use Estelle because she can also slot for La Tear) and your offensive caster to attack. Keep whittling down his health with Soul Blur or even throwing in an Eight-Leaf Blitz if you have cp, time and he's not defense buffed. Proper use of La Tear can save you a "turn" which is absolutely vital if you're doing a Nightmare run. When Kurt hits 1.5k health strategically start to amp up the offense (at the obvious cost of your defense) and eventually you'll burn him down.

Welcome to the easiest Nightmare fight of the Prologue. Enjoy what comes next...

Finally another comrade! Welcome to the club! It has to be a little irritating for others when it becomes the Raz, Walke and chester show on *at least* two other threads. I'd say that there are only two real boss fights that I think are stupid on a NG Nightmare run Sword Jaeger which is an utter crapshoot even at the absolute best of times (welcome to nail biting amounts of skill required as well) as well as the Divine Penguin (oh I still haven't gotten my first turn yet?). But yea, I can understand not wanting to go through Sword Jaeger hell.

Feel free to post your thoughts on the various bosses or monster exterminations as there's some pretty good alternate strats floating around in this thread (regretfully I have been unable to find time to hash some of them out myself). I acutally learned a lot just from Walke and chester posting their experiences.

Time to start putting on the big boy pants for these next ones. It's time for...

Bleublanc (Enforcer X)

Stats:

Lvl: 75 HP: 21679
STR: 1850 DEF: 1111
ATS: 560 ADF: 481
SPD: 64 EXP: 255

Drops: Tricks and treats

That defense is sky high...

Balancing Clown (x2)

Minion Stats:

Lvl: 72 HP: 13420
STR: 1729 DEF: 820
ATS: 0 ADF: 359
SPD: 58 EXP: 128

Drops: Nothing

From here on it's going to be (much) harder to get damage numbers and the like.

Notes: Bleublanc has a Magic Knife single target attack that hits for ~4000. Bleublanc can summon additional Balancing Clowns with Demon Appear. Bleublanc can create "shadows" of himself that don't do anything but take no damage if attacked. Bleublanc has a Wild Card attack that is small AoE that hits for ~4000 and has a 100% seal proc (as far as I can tell). Acedic Rain is a battlefield wide AoE for ~2400. Bleublanc has a nasty s-craft in the form of Death Magic. You can easily see upwards of 8000+ damage and it has a death proc. Balancing Clown has the Marionette attack which hits for ~3500 and can proc nasty statuses like Confuse, Mute and (maybe) Seal. Balancing Clown also has a Pitfall ability which can hit for almost 4000.

Party: Estelle, Joshua, Kevin, Kloe

Recommended Lvl: 72+

Orbments:

Estelle - Line Orange: EP Cut 4, Evade 4, Action 4, Cast 2
Line Blue: EP Cut 4, Defense 4, Absorb, HP 4

Joshua - Line Orange: Action 4, Evade 4, EP Cut 4, Cast 2, EP 4
Line Blue: Action 4, Move 3, Attack 4

Kevin - Line Orange: Action 4, Evade 4, HP 4, EP 4, Ingenuity, Defense 4
Line Blue: Action 4, Cast 2

Kloe - Line Orange: HP 4, Action 4, Cast 2, EP Cut 4, Mind 4, Evade 4, Yin-Yang

Recommended Gear: You should be getting some pretty sweet speed gear like Blue Falcons (35 agi = lulz) and Regina Guarder so prepare some great gear to bring into battle. Grail Locket should be on either Estelle or Kevin to prevent "mishaps." You'll need death, confuse and seal protections as your main focuses. + Damage gear should generally be considered second unless you're absolutely sure you won't be taking hits. Kevin still runs with Zodiac and other "rainbow" spells. Estelle's additional evade also brings Orbal Down (generally nice but not necessary) and Joshua is just bringing pain (and Death Scream).

Recommended Items: Food items that can cure both confuse and seal will be amazing this fight. Knockout Meatball is about the only attack food that's going to bring reasonable damage anymore (unfortunately). EP Charges (both Is and IIs) are worth their weight in gold.

Positioning: Grouped up somewhere as the boss and adds will generally be on you the minute the fight starts.

The Mad Hatter Strategy: Your first move should be to throw a Clock Down onto Bleublanc. Unlike other bosses however, this is not just to give him a hefty speed debuff but in order to "mark" him. When he attempts to be tricky with his shadows it actually becomes incredibly easy to pick out the real Bleublanc and attack him. Inflicting any kind of damage on him will make the "shadows" disappear. You'll have to lean heavily on Earth Wall in order to not get hit for nasty damage but more importantly nasty debuffs. Damage will have to be spread around to all targets because Bleublanc will summon more Balancing Clowns throughtout the fight. Letting them stack up can be bad and at the same time you want to actually win the fight so damage has to be applied to him as well. Kloe's Kaempfer is great this fight because it lowers his defense into the realm of reasonable and allows Joshua to hit him with True Black Fang for 4000+ damage on a critical turn *grins*. Kevin and Kloe both have emergency s-craft use so bringing these 2 can make your fight pretty easymode. There's also a few lines of dialogue between Kloe and Bleublanc. Seeing as how Trails is a game in love with it's dialogue... why not?

Finally it's Enforcer time. Get used to how they fight now or there might be consequences later.

For Bleublanc you don't need clock down on him to identify him from the clones, just check their basic stats in battle - they should have a different level than him (usually Lv6 lol).

For Luciola later it's similar when she does the shadow trickery, just watch her character level and you shouldn't get fooled.

For Luciola you can alternatively cast Silent Cross once she switches with one of your own chars.

You don't need clock down on him only for one reson: to make battle harder.
And thank you for tip with levels. Didn't notice this and didn't debuffed Luciola, so fight with her on hard was full of hitting myself in the face. It was kind of fun, but I newer will do that again.
HunterRassius Dec 9, 2015 @ 9:02am
That's an interesting little trick (i'll probably add that in). Still we don't want to make the fight any harder than it has to be. Especially when i'm going to be purposely eating s-crafts like Ultimate Blow to the face -.-;. That's perhaps the only real reason i'm going to be bringing Kevin to most of these.
HunterRassius Dec 9, 2015 @ 4:48pm
And then there was the second Enforcer...

Walter (Enforcer VIII)

Stats:

Lvl: 76 HP: 19361
STR: 1769 DEF: 885
ATS: 0 ADF: 468
SPD: 91 EXP: 255

Drops: Fists of Doom (on you)

91 Speed... Aidios help us...

Steel Cougar (x3)

Minion Stats:

Lvl: 72 HP: 8832
STR: 1531 DEF: 885
ATS: 0 ADF: 352
SPD: 60 EXP: 30

Drops: EP Charge II

Notes: Walter is fast as hell. Be prepared for regular attacks in the 4000 range. Sonic Fist is an AoE attack hitting for the same as a regular fist to the face. Bullet Lazer hits in a line for ~4000 and has a Str down attached. Walter has a buff that grants him both a boost in Str and also Agi. Walter can hit you with Infinity Combo which will hit for ~4500 and has a (likely nasty) debuff attached. Walter's s-craft Ultimate Blow is an AoE attack that will hit for ~6000 and has a faint proc attached (yea it hurts just a bit). Steel Cougar has Cleave Blade which is a regular attack for ~2500 and Wind Blade which is the same but a line based AoE.

Party: Estelle, Joshua, Zane, Kevin

Recommended Lvl: 73+

Orbments:

Estelle - Line Orange: EP Cut 4, Evade 4, Action 4, Cast 2
Line Blue: EP Cut 4, Defense 4, Absorb, HP 4

Joshua - Line Orange: Action 4, Evade 4, EP Cut 4, Cast 2, EP 4
Line Blue: Action 4, Move 3, Attack 4

Zane - Line Orange: Septium Vein, Evade 4, HP 4
Line Blue: Septium Vein, Action 4
Line Green: Septium Vein, Attack 4
Line Pink: Septium Vein, Petrify, Move 3

Kevin - Line Orange: Action 4, Evade 4, HP 4, EP 4, Ingenuity, Defense 4
Line Blue: Action 4, Cast 2

Recommended Gear: You should be getting some pretty sweet speed gear like Blue Falcons (35 agi = lulz) and Regina Guarder so prepare some great gear to bring into battle. Grail Locket should be on either Estelle or Kevin to prevent "mishaps." You'll need faint and (likely) seal protections as your main focuses. + Damage gear should be just fine to bring as well. Kevin still runs with Zodiac and other "rainbow" spells. Estelle's additional evade also brings Orbal Down (generally nice but not necessary) and Joshua is just bringing pain (and Death Scream). Even Zane can run Earth Wall and single target healing.

Recommended Items: Food and EP Charges.

Positioning: Grouped up in a corner would be best but really just about anywhere is fine.

The Eastern Giant Strategy: Clock Down is your bread and butter this fight. Walter is way too fast otherwise. Defense with Earth Wall is certainly important but in this particular case slightly prioritzing offense to get rid of low HP cats really helps stabilize the fight. Care should be given not to overwrite Zane's (much better) buff when you cast Zodiac. Phantom Pain along with Zodiac will greatly reduce the damage intake you will be receiving from Walter and friends. After the first tower you unlock the ability to upgrade your combat orbments to level 3 slots. I firmly recommended upgrading immediately in order to allow you to run high end spells like Zodiac without running out of gas early. It's a *noticable* difference in your support logevity. Once the steel cats are down Walter becomes pretty easy to handle all in all. Helps that if you equip some of your high end agi gear as he can miss quite a few attacks (hail agi!). Slowly grind Walter's health down with Zane's fists of rekage and you'll have the fight in the bag.

The uh... "high specs" Enforcer.

Luciola (Enforcer VI)

Stats:

Lvl: 77 HP: 18292
STR: 1588 DEF: 883
ATS: 647 ADF: 549
SPD: 64 EXP: 255

Drops: Nothing

Jubokko

Minion Stats:

Lvl: 75 HP: 9146
STR: 0 DEF: 883
ATS: 647 ADF: 538
SPD: 60 EXP: 96

Drops: Fresh air

Zaqqum

Minion Stats:

Lvl: 75 HP: 9146
STR: 1588 DEF: 883
ATS: 0 ADF: 0
SPD: 60 EXP: 96

Drops: Wind buffets

Alraune (x2)

Lvl: 73 HP: 2437
STR: 1467 DEF: 705
ATS: 488 ADF: 361
SPD: 58 EXP: 19

Drops: Nada

Notes: Luciola hits for around 3000 damage. Luciola has a Firestorm move which is AoE attack for little under 3000. Luciola has a Sleeping Bell attack which debuffs your defense and can inflict Sleep. Luciola's s-craft Tempest Storm hits for ~3500 if that. Zaqqum can hit you for ~3000 and inflicts confuse. Jubokko's Mist Storm hits for ~2500 and can inflict sleep. Alraune like to impede your casts with the Dream Fog attack that hits for little under 2000. Zaqqum and Jubokko can call in more Alraune. Luciola is definitely the easiest enforcer.

Party: Estelle, Joshua, Scherazard, Kevin

Recommended Lvl: 74+

Orbments:

Estelle - Line Orange: EP Cut 4, Range 1, Action 4, Cast 2
Line Blue: EP Cut 4, Defense 4, Absorb, HP 4

Joshua - Line Orange: Action 4, Evade 4, EP Cut 4, Cast 2, EP 4
Line Blue: Action 4, Move 3, Ruby Gem

Schera - Line Orange: Evade 4, Cast 2
Line Blue: Evade 4, Attack 4, Impede 4, HP 4, EP Cut 4, Action 4

Kevin - Line Orange: Action 4, Evade 4, HP 4, EP 4, Ingenuity, Defense 4
Line Blue: Action 4, Cast 2

Recommended Gear: You should be getting some pretty sweet speed gear like Blue Falcons (35 agi = lulz) and Regina Guarder so prepare some great gear to bring into battle. Your best speed gear should be thrown onto Schera. Grail Locket should be on either Estelle or Kevin to prevent "mishaps." You'll need sleep and confuse protection for this fight. + Damage gear should be just fine to bring as well. Kevin still runs with Zodiac and other "rainbow" spells. Estelle's Range 1 allows better AoEs for the important spells (Clock Down and Earth Wall) while Joshua brings the pain (and Death Scream). Schera runs heavy on both support and offensive spells though she will mainly be using Heaven's Kiss this fight.

Recommended Items: Food and EP Charges.

Positioning: Grouped up in a corner would be best but really just about anywhere is fine.

Silver Streak's Strategy: This fight is actually kind of a pushover. First push is the usual in Clock Down and Earth Wall. With Heaven's Kiss these casts should be plenty easy to get off. Alraune are extremely evasive and you'd normally need to hit them with some earth arts but you have Joshua with you and you can wipe out just about everything with a critical turned s-craft. Dps either Jubokko or Zaqqum with whatever damage you can pump out fastest as they heal from the opposite "element" (ie magic or physical). The fight's basically yours once you've brought down the adds.

Just one last boss this chapter...

Oh... you wanted an easy boss for Chapter 7? Yea that's not happening. Be prepared to get destroyed by the...

Chapter 7 End Boss

Renne (Enforcer XV)

Stats:

Lvl: 78 HP: 16566
STR: 1595 DEF: 897
ATS: 561 ADF: 497
SPD: 91 EXP: 255

Drops: You...

Oh just 91 speed again... joy

Vogel 911 EX (x6)

Minion Stats:

Lvl: 77 HP: 6777
STR: 1491 DEF: 725
ATS: 466 ADF: 418
SPD: 64 EXP: 29

Drops: Lazers of death on you...

Pater-Mater

Lvl: 80 HP: 24400
STR: 2836 DEF: 1020
ATS: 649 ADF: 477
SPD: 54 EXP: 155

Drops: It doesn't... ever

I'm sure that Str won't be a problem...

Notes: Renne will DESTROY you... just get used to it now. This fight starts as a suprise fight with Renne and the 6 Vogels vs. your soon to be dead party members. Renne will immediately drop her s-craft Rennede onto you for a mere ~5600 damage + deathblow. Renne can use Blood Circle to use a whirlwind attack that hits for ~3500 and knocks you far, far away from your comrades. Renne can swing normally for just under 3000 and she can also use Calamity Throw for a piddly 4000+. Did I mention all of her attacks have deathblow? My bad.. Vogels fire a Gorgon Lazer which is a line based AoE that will hit you for ~1800 and has a Petrify/Blind/Poison proc on it. Vogels can also melee you for 2500+. Pater-Mater has a normal attack that hits for 7000 (yes you saw that right) and can use Buster Cannon for a line based AoE that inflicts ~5500 damage and has a Blind proc. Did I mention you'll probably die?

Party: Estelle, Joshua, Kevin, Tita

HIGHLY Recommended Lvl: 76+

Orbments:

Estelle - Line Orange: EP Cut 4, Range 1, Action 4, Cast 2
Line Blue: EP Cut 4, Defense 4, Absorb, HP 4

Joshua - Line Orange: Action 4, Sapphire Gem, EP Cut 4, Cast 2, EP 4
Line Blue: Action 4, Move 3, Ruby Gem

Kevin - Line Orange: Action 4, Evade 4, HP 4, EP 4, Ingenuity, Defense 4
Line Blue: Action 4, Cast 2

Tita - Line Orange: EP Cut 4, Attack 4
Line Blue: EP Cut 4, Cast 2, Range 1, Action 4
Line Green: EP Cut 4, HP 4, Petrify

HIGHLY Recommended Gear: If you thought you didn't need speed gear before you'll *definitely* need it now. You're looking for Deathblow and Petrify protection this time around and even after you'll be taking so much damage it's almost a joke. Gladiator Belt should go on either Josh (to destroy things asap) or Kevin for Grail Sphere (though you'd be lucky to be in range). It's also time to pull out your proxy puppets and emergency puppets as the chances of your party members dying is EXTREMELY high. Range 1 on Estelle can mean the difference between a dead party member and a not so dead one. Josh should probably run Sapphire Gem this time around as you need to get damage on everything *fast* so Death Scream is the order of the day along with his s-crafts also it will unlock vital healing arts. Lastly, Tita might be the only one that will have the time to Clock Down this fight.

Recommended Items: Best healing food you have. EP Charges because it's a 2 round fight. Tomatario sandwichs for *vital* cp at times and Zeram Powders for much the same.

Positioning: Grouped in the back corner (for the next fight). Surprise attack means your positioning means jack for the first round.

The "I Got Rekted by an 11 Year Old" Strategy: Your very first action should be to hit 3 or 4 to drop a Grail Sphere on yourself (BEFORE Renne kills your team). If you're running this fight without Kevin then uh... good luck? If Renne decides to use Blood Circle as her second action you're all but done after that because she'll do it before you get a turn and you'll have a helluva time recovering when your 4 party members are suddenly on all 4 corners of the battlefield. Josh should start preparing battlefield wide damage in the form of Death Scream and holding a 200 cp True Black Fang for the right time. Estelle should be attempting to Earth Wall though more likely you'll have to throw a Tearal on someone who's about to get reaped. Kevin also should be preparing some healing or earth guard/wall and Tita should throw a Clock Down on Renne. Both Tita and Josh will be using their s-crafts in order to lower the stupid amount of damage you'll be taking throughout the fight. Tita's instant 3500 Aoe heal is amazing if you can hit more than 1 party member with it. Zodiac is amazing here as well if you can get that buff up before Josh starts to throw down a battlefield wide critical turned s-craft because watching 4 Vogels live with ~140 HP... blows. Assuming you can kill the Vogels you'll (eventually) be able to stabilize. The fight will probably be almost over by then as Renne will likely be at half or 1/3 health. Before finishing her however... you should build up some cp as the next fight is...

...Pater-Mater

The good news is if you positioned your party right he won't be able to 1-shot someone his first move. The bad news is he's immune to stat downs and hits stupid hard. Thankfully, because this isn't a suprise fight that's heavily *not* in your favor it should be a fairly simple boss with the usual. Keep your walls and buffs up and your damage output high.

Enjoy what's probably my favorite movie in the entire game.

Oh it's here alright...

I forgot how much bs the next fight is...

Armored Hydra

Stats:

Lvl: 80 HP: 35103
STR: 2056 DEF: 1036
ATS: 477 ADF: 484
SPD: 69 EXP: 255

Drops: Topaz Gem

69 Speed... yea sure as hell didn't feel like it...

Killer Crab (x5... or something)

Minion Stats:

Lvl: 79 HP: 1690
STR: 1687 DEF: 1062
ATS: 0 ADF: 315
SPD: 71 EXP: 18

Drops: Monster Carapace

Notes: Even the minions can tear you a new one never mind the Hydra. Armored Hydra has a AoE ~6500 damage attack in Rock Toss that he loves to spam. Armored Hydra has an Earthshaker (joy right?) attack that hits ~4500. Armored Hydra has both Call Allies (which spawns a Killer Crab) and a Flash attack (AoE Blind) that have EXTREMELY low delay. He can easily get a double turn to wipe you out. Giga Crush is a single target attack fro ~4500. When Armored Hydra gets low he'll start to spam Absorb which is an AoE ~4500 life leech. If he hits even a couple of your guys the fight basically restarts. Armored Hydra's nastiest attack is Radiant Blue a charge attack that will wipe out your ep and cp pools. Radiant Blue is (thankfully) impedeable. Killer Crabs hit for ~3200. Be thankful you don't have a thread to update with damage numbers on these bloody attacks.

Party: Estelle, Joshua, Agate, Scherazard

HIGHLY Recommended Lvl: 78+

Orbments:

Estelle - Line Orange: EP Cut 4, Range 1, Action 4, Time Gem
Line Blue: EP Cut 4, Defense 4, Absorb, HP 4

Joshua - Line Orange: Action 4, Sapphire Gem, EP Cut 4, Cast 2, EP 4
Line Blue: Action 4, Move 3, Ruby Gem

Agate - Line Orange: Attack 4, EP 4, Evade 4
Line Blue: Attack 4, HP 4, Action 4
Line Green: Attack 4, Seal, Move 3

Scherazard - Line Orange: Evade 4, Cast 2
Line Blue: Evade 4, HP 4, Impede 4, Mind 4, EP Cut 4, Action 4

Recommended Gear: Speed, speed, speed!! As usual, speed gear or bust. You'll want a Zero Field Generator on Estelle, Joshua and Schera as you *will* be casting with all 3 of these characters. Aidios help you if you went the other direction. Gladiator Belt on Joshua for enough s-crafts to wreck the giant crab. The only debuff you have to worry about is blind so there's no real concern in that department. Josh still running full damage and should (shortly) be able to switch out his move quartz. Schera running max healing (as you might just need it this fight). Estelle swapping out for a nice Time Gem for op casting delay.

Recommended Items: Heavenly Tempura is an awesome food you should pick up in Rolent and EP Charges are still your best friend.

Positioning: One of the back corners to buy yourself some time.

DIE CRAB DIE!! Strategy: Start much as you'd start any other fight with dead minions and a Clock Down on the Hydra pronto!! Estelle should be on the "getting wall up so I don't die" program. Schera should be using Heavens Kiss and Agate should be dropping damage on the boss whenever he can. Clock Up EX should go on your supports at the very least and Morale or La Forte should go out so you can actually put out some decent damage on the boss. If he summons more minions hit them with a Chaos Brand so that they can wreck the boss and not you. Keep the wall castings tight because him getting an Absorb in will make likely make you scream in frustration thankfully the Time Gem makes Estelle wicked fast in that regard. 50 Str turns are absolutely deadly because the boss can get them. If he Rock Tosses on a 50 Str turn and you don't have a wall up enjoy the restart. Keep the damage coming in hard and fast and make sure your defense is rock solid. Eventually, you'll be having some crab for dinner.

A surprisingly easy fight for the Chapter 8 finale...

Chapter 8 End Boss(es)

Pale Apache (x3)

Stats:

Lvl: 80 HP: 17665
STR: 1820 DEF: 985
ATS: 0 ADF: 548
SPD: 75 EXP: 180

Drops: Nada

Vogel 235 (x3)

Minion Stats:

Lvl: 80 HP: 1220
STR: 1637 DEF: 938
ATS: 539 ADF: 470
SPD: 73 EXP: 20

Drops: Insulating Tape

Notes: See Chapter 6 End Boss. Damage is the about the same. The Apaches have the same buff, etc. Only difference is Pale Apaches call Vogel 235s.

Party: Estelle, Joshua, Agate, Scherazard

Recommended Lvl: 79+

Orbments:

Estelle - Line Orange: EP Cut 4, Range 1, Action 4, Time Gem
Line Blue: EP Cut 4, Defense 4, Absorb, HP 4

Joshua - Line Orange: Action 4, Evade 4, EP Cut 4, Cast 2, EP 4
Line Blue: Action 4, HP 4, Ruby Gem

Agate - Line Orange: Attack 4, EP 4, Evade 4
Line Blue: Attack 4, HP 4, Action 4
Line Green: Attack 4, Seal 2, Move 3

Scherazard - Line Orange: Evade 4, Cast 2
Line Blue: Evade 4, HP 4, Impede 4, Attack 4, EP Cut 4, Action 4

Recommended Gear: Speed gear is still king. The Orbs are the items that really shine here. Throwing a Power Orb on Josh allows you to run a quartz not named Move 3. Zero Field Generator on Estelle for Earth Walls and healing. Gladiator Belt on Josh for mad cp recovery. Well... you get the picture.

Recommended Items: Pretty much any food items you've gotten in Chapter 8.

Positioning: Up to you really...

The "I'm in a Hurry!" Strategy: The single biggest thing you need to get going is AT Delay on the Apaches. Simply because you can actually hit them with something to delay their turn should make this fight pretty easy. If you have Agate you can easily clean up all the adds then bump him back into the turn order with Schera. Estelle won't be doing much that isn't Earth Wall or La Teara. With Spiral Edge from Agate and Flicker/Evil Eye from Josh the Apaches should be getting few if any turns. Once you're down to 2 or 1 Apaches the fight's basically over.

Updates on the thread should be coming in a little slower now. 3rd area of the Finale and 300+ hours sunk into this game has left me sputtering on fumes for a bit. Not to mention, i've almost completed this boss thread. It needs at least one review and then a final review after the last boss is posted. After that, probably get some alternate strategies in for some of the more difficult fights.

Also I won't have access to my computer from the 19-27 so i'll be "dead" during those days. Cold Steel comes for me on ~22nd so we'll see if I get caught up in that or not (I haven't decided whether I want to play the series out of order yet). I WILL complete this thing however, though it might be sometime in January before that is.

Man you didn't have a guide on how to beat penguins version 2 in chapter 8. I felt that fight was completely obnoxious.

Man i'm surprised you had any trouble really. The impromptu strategy for that would be to abuse the "Golden Duo" or in this case Clock Down and Earth Wall. I had actually completely forgotten to throw on some confuse immunity and yet it never cropped up as an issue. I either took 0 or 1 hit I can't remember. Focus on one at a time and abuse s-craft spam with Agate and Josh till one "pops." Tita was my last and could also run Earth Wall at that point. After one is down, there should be no way the last one can get through your Gaara defense bubble I mean Earth Wall spam. You'll need Night Goggles on Josh and Agate for this strategy to work but... it's not like Nightmare isn't all about preparation or anything.

I'm finally back! This time with the first "boss(es)" of the Finale Chapter...

Pale Apache (x3)

Stats:

Lvl: 82 HP: 22936
STR: 2104 DEF: 1079
ATS: 0 ADF: 584
SPD: 75 EXP: 180

Drops: Smoking junk

Spindoll (maybe)

Minion Stats:

Lvl: 80 HP: 4745
STR: 1930 DEF: 1020
ATS: 0 ADF: 526
SPD: 100 EXP: 25

Drops: none

Notes: Yup it's these guys once again (as if you weren't already sick of them). See Chapter 6 End Boss for more details. Damage is in the realm of 4500 if you're not debuffed. The Apaches have the same buff, etc. A minor difference is that when their health gets low they can turn into a Spindoll which basically just helps fill your Monster Guide as they Bullet Barrage for even less than the Apaches.

Party: Estelle, Joshua, Josette, Kloe (go team Josh harem!)

Recommended Lvl: 82+

Orbments:

Estelle - Line Orange: Gold Gem, Evade 4, Freeze 2, Onyx Gem
Line Blue: Gold Gem, Cast 2, Scent, Ruby Gem

Joshua - Line Orange: Onyx Gem, Impede 4, Gold Gem, Cast 2, Silver Gem
Line Blue: Onyx Gem, Sapphire Gem, Ruby Gem

Josette - Line Orange: Topaz Gem, Gold Gem, Poison 2, Silver Gem
Line Blue: Topaz Gem, Time Gem, Onyx Gem, HP 4

Kloe - Line Orange: Sapphire Gem, Gold Gem, Cast 2, Wind Gem, HP 4, Onyx Gem, Yin-Yang

Recommended Gear: Speed gear is the key as usual. The Orbs are the items that really shine here. Throwing a Power Orb on Josh allows you to run a quartz not named Move 3. Gladiator Belt on Josh for mad cp recovery. Well... you get the picture. Estelle runs quartz that allows her to beat faces in while still being some viable support (additional Earth Guard if need be as well). Joshua unlocks Silver Thorn at this stage of the game so he can be better than Loewe and Josette runs heavy earth quartz and a Time Gem so she can next turn a Gaia Shield.

Recommended Items: Pretty much any food items you've gotten in Chapter 8 + 9.

Positioning: Doesn't Matter as it's a surprise attack... kind of.

The "No More Weak Bosses Please!" Strategy: Clock Down and AT Delay is about the only thing I really need to "say" here. Apaches that are slow and not doing anything are Apaches that will never kill you. The beginning's a little rough but Kloe can throw down an s-craft if need be and once you have wall spam up you should (generally) be ready to rumble. Once the Apaches group up so Josh can AT Delay 2 of them the fight's over. Enjoy Estelle being able to drop 7k+ Wheel of Time's on occasion. You'll probably never see a Spindoll as they only come out when an Apache's at critical HP.

Well that was fun... at least we'll be back to bosses we actually care about with the next one.

Technically New Gilbert is a boss... technically I really don't care that he is. If you've gotten this far i'm sure one and all can pound his "please hit me" face into the ground.
