Why should I use Kevin?
Question is strictly from a gameplay perspective. Love him story-wise.

He doesn't seem especially strong like Joshua and Estelle, and he has two orb lines as opposed to one like Kloe and Olivier.

grail sphere

He's still a good caster, has more default health than Olivier or Kloe iirc and his S-Break is op if you use it in a pinch... full immunity for 2 attacks for your entire party, that's pretty hax.

Because he's more Kevin than Dennis.

for me, he had extremely good defense. everything just tickles him.

and grail sphere is pretty op, especially if you use it in a certain end-game boss fight. his healing craft is really strong too, since it cures all ailments (it doesn't say that though).

His crafts, and his lovable personality.

His party wide healing one is great for removing status effects + healing some HP, the CP arrow one is good to have around, and Grail Sphere is broken.

Kevin is good, but I would not trade Kloe and Tita out for him. Kloe is just broken, and not having Tita in is a sin!

I fought the hardest boss in the game on hard without Kloe. She is the strongest arts-caster by far, but strength doesn't mean much on fights where one has to be methodical and survivable. When I used Kloe on that same fight, she was the weakest link. Her only saving grace was Kämpfer. And Tita? I have no words for a character sub-10,000hp even at level 90+ with HP5.

As for the reasons mentioned, Grail Sphere and the fact that he has higher HP/Def than Kloe are very good reasons. Any arts-user(Schera, Olivier, Kloe and Kevin) can be built to heal. 2 water quartz and a wind quartz and ep cut(end-game quartz) with allow for all the aoe healing abilities.

Edit: Although, from a gameplay-perspective. I was pretty much the same way(Why I should use Kevin!?) when I first got him. Especially with Kloe/Olivier around. When the bosses get harder, it's when you start to realise his usefulness.

Grail Sphere OP

A certain end game fight where the boss opens with a S-Craft and instantly bring everyone to the brink of death? No problem, just top off Kevin's CP with food before fight, then pop Grail Sphere before the boss' S-Craft.

Grail Sphere + having the second best customizable caster line. Olivier obviously has the best, and he comes second as a result of Time being his center slot. Obviously either Action or Cast goes in there (which you'd take anyways on a caster), and the rest are completely open.

He doesn't have as high of an ATS as Kloe, but he's still useable as an offensive caster.

Action goes in there. Cast can go in the minor branch. That's obvious.

I wasn't too keen on Kevin early on either, but he really grew on me because of his versatility. All his crafts are useful, he can cast well but still has decent str AND range, and his orbment line is up there with Olivier for flexibility. (Like people have said, the two lines isn't actually a big deal if you put Action in the center and Cast on the branch.) I guess it depends on how you like to play, though -- I benched Kloe because she might have the best ATS, but I wanted to stick six forks in my eyes after Blue Impact and Death Scream over and over and overrrr.

I agree, and that's how I put him together, but some people ditch Action or Cast. Not sure why.

To be fair to the antagonists. A proper warrior does not pick on a weaker opponent. One must give ample time for your opponent to be ready. Even if it means your death, at least you die honourably!

At least that's what I HOPE(edit) they think.

He has the most freedom with his slots because you'll need to have Action and Cast 2 on any spellcaster anyways, and the former is perfect for his time locked slot while the latter is perfect for his "short" chain due to it not contributing to any spells by the time he joins for good, so he essentially has one unlimited chain. He also ties with Zane for having the highest base DEF (for what it's worth), a healing craft, a craft that restores CP (very unique and useful), and an S-craft that puts up potentially two layers of walls (extremely useful). If you want a support caster role, he fills it better than anyone else.
