and grail sphere is pretty op, especially if you use it in a certain end-game boss fight. his healing craft is really strong too, since it cures all ailments (it doesn't say that though).
His party wide healing one is great for removing status effects + healing some HP, the CP arrow one is good to have around, and Grail Sphere is broken.
I fought the hardest boss in the game on hard without Kloe. She is the strongest arts-caster by far, but strength doesn't mean much on fights where one has to be methodical and survivable. When I used Kloe on that same fight, she was the weakest link. Her only saving grace was Kämpfer. And Tita? I have no words for a character sub-10,000hp even at level 90+ with HP5.
As for the reasons mentioned, Grail Sphere and the fact that he has higher HP/Def than Kloe are very good reasons. Any arts-user(Schera, Olivier, Kloe and Kevin) can be built to heal. 2 water quartz and a wind quartz and ep cut(end-game quartz) with allow for all the aoe healing abilities.
Edit: Although, from a gameplay-perspective. I was pretty much the same way(Why I should use Kevin!?) when I first got him. Especially with Kloe/Olivier around. When the bosses get harder, it's when you start to realise his usefulness.
A certain end game fight where the boss opens with a S-Craft and instantly bring everyone to the brink of death? No problem, just top off Kevin's CP with food before fight, then pop Grail Sphere before the boss' S-Craft.
He doesn't have as high of an ATS as Kloe, but he's still useable as an offensive caster.
Action goes in there. Cast can go in the minor branch. That's obvious.
To be fair to the antagonists. A proper warrior does not pick on a weaker opponent. One must give ample time for your opponent to be ready. Even if it means your death, at least you die honourably!
At least that's what I HOPE(edit) they think.
