So what happened in Hamel? (Spoilers)
Ok so I'm confused by everything that's happened in Hamel to cause the war between Erebonia and Liberl.

I know what's know is that some Liberl soldiers went to kill and raze the whole village of Hamel, but what ACTUALLY happened was the "Liberl Soldiers" were actually Erebonian soldiers sent by the Erebonian Empire and disguised them as Liberlian Soldiers, and these soldiers were sent to kill Hamel soldiers to make it look like Liberlian Soldiers killed Erebonia citizens.

So in short...
Did Erebonian Empire use Hamel as a sacrifice to start a war with Liberl?

I'm so confused.
Even reading the wiki entry for Hamel doesn't clear up my confusion.

This.
With (spoilers incase you didn't finish the game yet) Weissman having a hand at it

^Yes and itt's not so much that the empire sacrificed Hamel as one particular faction of it, and when that faction was discovered they were dealt with accordingly, so no, the guys in charge were not responsible for Hamel, only the subsequent cover up But the spoiler That's Ich mentioned holds some interesting implications as well, namely, that if Weissman influenced the guys responsible, how aware are they of their actions considering all the FC villains that Weissman manipulated had no memories of their crimes...

One question, who ultimately took the blame for Hamel? From General Morgan and the Queen's quotes from the game it almost feels like Liberl did end up taking some of the blame. Or was it just covered up so well that plenty of high ranking officials knew exactly who was to blame but everyone agreed to keep quiet about it?

I think it was this. Don't forget the Empire executed pretty much any one who knew about it,
