What's the leitmotiff that plays in the main menu?

My friend and I were discussing some VG music and we ended up asking, "What's the theme that plays in the menu?"

Listen to it for a moment. After that, listen to Ancient Makes, Hollowed Light of the Sealed Land, the boss theme when you fight human bosses (it's the track when you fight the first jaegar), and there's also a track in the BGM folder that has the same motiff but I forgot the track.

I'm pretty sure it's not Whereabouts of Light. Is there a base track and all of the other tracks I listed are just renditions of it?

Is this where it came from? To be honest, I'm not hearing it. I even sped up the vid but I can't get the feel for it. It's either it's not it or it's a very subtle remix but I doubt that.

I'm not a music buff so I'm going out on a limb here but I believe the very first instance you hear what I think is the leitmotiff is in the very first song of the FC soundtrack:

This part is definitely similar though:

FC opening theme (a.k.a. Sora no Kiseki / Trails in the Sky):

SC main menu theme (a.ka. Shine of Eidos)

If we consider the music that plays in the opening of the first game as the "first" version of that leit motif, all the others you mentioned (like Ancient Makes and Hollow Light of the Sealed Land) definitely follow it. Another good example would be Crushed and Scarred, from SC.

EDIT: Whoops, I hadn't noticed the one posted by Craig78 wasn't the opening theme. Yeah, FC main menu theme isn't really related to the ones you mentioned. As far as I know the only music related to the main menu theme of FC is a track by the same name on SC.

Ahhhhh, so this is where it came from. Quite a bit of variations for Trails in the Sky. I just realized the theme also covers Whereabouts of Light as well.
