Thus the first thing really is getting to know what the boss can do and how to counter each. Vanish? Just move out of the AOE. Raging Angel Buff? Counter using your own buff and maintaining Earth Guard. Thus why the link to the boss thread.
Here are two things you can try:
- Angel Weissmann on Hard has about 69 SPD. So equip everyone in your party with Speed boosting gear to get them close to or over that value. Then using Clock Up Ex you will have higher speed then Angel Weissmann and potentially get more turns.
- Only use low level attack arts. They cast quicker and the damage for higher level spells are only flat increases thus the low damage increase. Only use high level spells if they guarantee a kill or hit the entire field to help clear adds.
I have no clue where Vigi gets the confidence that physical attackers aren't a perfectly valid strategy even on Nightmare.
Walke likely has the right of it though. 10-15 spd in gear may not sound like much but it really can make all the difference. Add on Clock Up EX and there's no reason you can't evade the crap out of Ruined World (the permanent "suspend" the 2nd Angel form has). It's a long delay cast to say the least.
As for party setup there's essentially no reason to have Kloe setup as "support". Even if you gear her offensively she'll have access to spells that can top you off at her whim. She excels at being both your strongest offensive caster AND healer. It's a much better idea to setup Olivier as the support. For one, he's one of only 2 characters that can comfortably run Zodiac. Secondly, assuming you don't use a defense quartz to do so, he can also run as both an offensive caster/attacker and support at the same time. Up to the topic creator to figure out whether he wants to run Gaia Shield but regardless there's serious options on this particular team to say the least.
I do like to collect things...
When he is preparing Raging God Angel, there is a whirring sound together with particles moving towards his body. It can be impeded.
Another impedible move is Shining Burst Adante, which can be considered his strongest damaging move. When he's preparing this, his shoulder-eyes give off a green light.
Try to deal some burst damage while he's channeling for these kind of skills because the DEF & ADF DOWN is quite significant. Save S-Crafts for these windows.
You want a primary physical attacker able to kill things immune or extremely resistant to magic. That's about it. As far as I've gotten in SC Nightmare it doesn't skew quite as hard as FC (very well might later), but even from the beginning it's still very lopsided and arts will generally win out spectacularly unless there's a specific reason they won't. Like, even physical attackers are usually best off spamming AOE arts to charge their S-break.
