Using the Retry Offset
So I have been playing this game on normal mode and also played the FC on normal mode. I didn't really have to use Retry Offset in the FC and until the end of the 2nd Chapter of SC. I'm really interested in story but I feel like I'm using the Retry Offset so much and this kinda kills the excitement in me for this game.

I had to use them on Blue Sheep fight on chapter 2, End boss of chapter 2 and the sewer monster on chapter 3 (I don't know if there are more than 1 sewer monster but if thats the case I mean the first one) and I feel like this is going to get more often. Is it normal to depend on Retry Offset that much or am I doing something wrong.

PS. This is my 2nd JRPG I really played, first one was the FC. So I might be a bit of noob about this stuff.

1) Don't rush. Think about strong and weak sides if your party. Make use of stronger ones, try to negate weaker ones.
2) Try to get as much utility from your funds as you possibly can. Get better equipment, explore for chests, upgrade your quartzes.
3) Feel free to grind for money/sepith/exp. The best way to do it is via shining poms, If you need exact locations of them, I can provide a gamefaqs guide to that.
4) Make use of buffs/debuffs. Clock Down is the most usefull and widely used spell. Speed is your main asset in making fights winnable. More speed => more actions => more options to play safer and win. Clock Up (EX) is also really useful, but do not spam it mindlessly. Earth Wall is a life saver.
5) Read the guides if you're not afraid of spoilers and want to see the right strategy.

Hmmm, that's only a couple deaths, so not that weird. It's normal enough. But, you must have made some poor decisions to die on those in normal mode. Without more details, it's hard for me to make recommendations.

I will contradict Serval on one thing. While your playstyle is of course up to you, you shouldn't have to grind for anything in this game on normal mode. Assuming you're doing the vast majority of the quests, you already have all the resources you need to decisively win every fight. It's just how you use and apply that mira and sepith.

I didn't insist on grinding. :) My point was that there is nothing bad if you need it. It's better to spend from 10 to 30 minutes on making your party stronger if there is such a need than to spend this time doing nothing in attempts to complete a fight.

I guess I can take a look at the guides. The problem is there aren't that many debuffs you can inflict on strong enemies, majority of them have resistance against everything so it makes it kinda difficult to find a solution. Thanks for the answer!

I guess I'll do some different stuff to overcome these. Also on that sewer fight there are 4 monsters with 8k hp each and they call reinforcements. I'm using Agate, Kloe and Olivier. Olivier is my caster but even he does approx 1.5k damage per art against these creatures and since they can leech HP and confuse my party it makes it so hard for me to beat it.

There are VERY FEW opponents, who are immune to Clock Down ( most of them are at the end of the game ), so you can use it to your advantage.

About sewer fight . Are you speaking of Mouki (the monster that was first met under old campus in academy at the end of chapter 1) ? If yes, there is a simple solution - Earth Wall. They cannot drain hp if they deal no damage :confusedswirl:

I was talking about the creature called Mad Tree, the big problem was their confusion since I only have 1 Lily Necklace ( I cant buy them [yet I think]). but I managed to beat it using Tita instead of Kloe and blinding them. I will also definitely try to get Clock Down on one of my characters. Thanks for the advice :)

With Mad Tree there is a great exploit with Taunt. I have a video demonstration of how it works in a video (timecode 5:00, for some reason Steam doesn't redirect it correctly).

Looks pretty useful, I'll definitely use it if I come across Mad Trees again or in my 2nd playthrough. Also just noticed you can buy Lily Necklaces from the department store. Oh well

Both FC and SC have tons of way overpowered unbalanced stuff in them. Nothing is wrong with needing to use Retry. That's normal.
