Can't get a controller to work

What / When:
I have a tablet that I can connect to a controller but the controller refuses to register. It works with other games like stardew valley and it will work with trails in the sky if I use steam remote play to run the game on my PC but the controller simply won't work if I run the game from the tablet itself.

I've seen the DirectInput advice before to enable that but no such button or option exists in my config.


Specs: CPU, GPU, RAM, PSU, OS

Windows 10, the tablet is a linx vision 8. It has no problems starting up the game, just to utilize the controller.
Additional: Running weird resolutions? Changed Settings?

Changing the resolution hasn't affected the settings. i've tried default settings and just about everything else.

I should probably mention the controller is recognized as a gamepad through most software but in the settings of the game it mentions "xbox 360 controller". I get the impression it's not correctly detecting my controller somehow. Are gamepads not properly supported or is there some way to make it detect my controller properly because i dont have any other options when clicking the dropdown for controllers.

It's the controller that is distributed when buying this tablet (linx vision 8). I believe it should be recognized as a generic controller.

Try 360ce or other controller emulator softwares. I always have to use those for Steam with my Logitech controller
