Maybe it's worth to try to start battle with +50% evasion, but I can't test it, since I don't have a save near this battle.
This is a decent strategy on nightmare or hard (but even then one Proxy Puppet should typically be sufficient). On normal the question is how much damage you can put out. For this Death Scream and the meatballs should be better than Silver Thorn since the opponents probably won't hurt each other that much.
