Xbox One Controller issue
Hi Devs,

I am having an issue playing the game with my Xbox One controller. Menu navigation is almost impossible due to an issue which manifests as the following:

1. Input in the menu is always going left
2. D-pad is not working
3. Pressing up and down using the left stick is unresponsive and only works once every few taps of the stick

I have updated my Xbox One controller driver and have installed all other updates for Windows 7 64Bit.

Hopefully you guys can fix this so I can enjoy playing with a controller. This game looks very promising from the little I have played with my mouse and keyboard so far.

Many thanks,

Leon

the issue comes from your wireless keyboard

I do not use a wireless keyboard. The issue is still present even with my mouse and keyboard disconnected.

Could you specify exactly what you did, please?

We are aware of this issue and are working hard to resolve it. But thanks for the very detailed report it really helps us a lot.

I asked in the other thread, but would you guys mind taking and sharing a screenshot of the following window?

To open this window do the following:
  1. Type in Devices and Printers into the Start Menu and open it.
  2. Right-click on the Controller and select Game Controller Settings.
  3. Select the Xbox One Controller in the new window and click Properties.

Thanks,

We were finally able to reproduce the "always going left" issue.
Tomorrow, we will issue a patch that will have an easy workaround for people experiencing this.

I've just now purchase the game, and I have this precise problem. Win8.1x64, Xbox One controller via wireless adapter, and the input is stuck to the left. The volume slider, for example, immediately drops to mute, etc.

Where is this patch?

The issue still persists - I guess the "remove alternate controls" options might be the fix

I've had problems using an Xbox one controller plugged in with the official dongle and the most updated drivers. The controller works for the menus (minus a few choices that need the mouse) but the analog triggers didn't work to shoot and ultimate skill. When i binded then manually (from axis 9 and axis 10 to axis -3 and axis +3) they worked but too well, they acted as if they were always pressed down.

What i did to fix it was going into the controller configuration in steam (hold the power button on the controller if you're in big picture mode, or press shift+tab and then click on controller configuration in the upper right area of the screen if you aren't using the big picture overlay, or go to controller configuration when you right click the game's name in your library and find it under "manage" or on the right side of the game's page in your library inside the menu that pops up by pressing the settings icon and going to "manage") and changing the right trigger to a left mouse click and the left trigger to the 3 key. That fixed it.

The only thing that kinda messed up was when i pressed either trigger it made the button prompts go from showing Xbox prompts to keyboard prompts, but they switch right back the moment you press anything else or move the analog sticks. That is easy enough to deal with since you pretty much never look at the prompts except for right in the beginning of the game in the tips and the things that say "press X to interact" or the lower right corner of the screen that shows your skill cooldown, cooldowns you barely every look at for the button and have saved in your mind by the time you start looking at them for cooldowns information anyway.

Thank you for starting this thread, it helped me work through the problem by bringing manual bonding to my attention and you're welcome for the fix I've provided free of charge because I'm just that kinda guy.

Devs, if you could fix this simple problem it would be greatly appreciated, especially if the game is available on some other pc platform like GoG because there isn't a controller configuration built into that launcher like steam has. Side note, i really wish steam released a standalone launcher that isn't connected to steam or the internet in an way but still let you use all the functions of steam as a launcher and controller configuration software. If the apocalypse happens we won't be able to install steam because internet is required to install it and well have to rely on previous installs or backup up Windows images with it installed - or i guess steam os but meh, that os has potential but is still meh at the moment.

Sorry for any typos, I'm writing in my phone with swipe typing.

@Brian, this thread is from 2016. The company that made this game has been bought by another company which doesn't even list this game as part of their portfolio. It is unsupported.

I didn't know the game was bought by a new company. I guess the devs won't be fixing anything. That said, i made my post (even though the thread is old) so that other people could use the steam controller configuration to fix the problem with controllers. I don't really care if the game isn't supported anymore, it's complete enough to play through. Thanks for the heads up though.

Hey if it still helps anyone: if you select the Controller Configuration icon on the Steam page (on banner next to the icons of controller/player support) - I went and downloaded a template from the community and it helped my configuration out. I was sure to set everything to default before applying the template. Also, the studio was acquired by Wizards of the Coast because they are developing the next Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance.

Could you please let me know what template you downloaded? I only found one for the Xbox controller and it didn't work at all.

Controller support seems totally broken.
