Dragon master
Does it work with Summon Zmey and other national dragon summons? The trait says dragonlike creature so not actual dragons?

According to the mod inspector the Zmey has the drake tag, and it says in the description that additional Zmey can be summoned by dragon masters.

Not a bad idea, by the way. I'll have to give this a try.

Minor idea. It might be nice if the "dragon master" trait could attract a real dragon. Once per game, friendly with positive luck or hostile with misfortune. Something like a hero, but for any nation.

I was just thinking of going Russ hell bless and focus on dragons which I'll cast gift of reason on them late game.

It does. I used it in a recent game as Bogarus.

By "real dragon" I meant dragons similar to the pretenders. There is an event in the game in which a red dragon (possible spoiler!) attacks a province. It requires the presence of goats.

Do the dragons get any item slots and magic skills when made commanders?

They should get crown and misc slots.
Also some magic, yes.

The one that shows up to eat your goats has fire magic.

On the contrary, I don't believe they do: remember, the "dragon" dragons (or "real" dragons, as powerfinder says) are almost entirely Pretenders, so they can't be summoned with national spells (though they can be Wished for and made Commanders with Gift of Reason or Divine Name). They get two Miscellaneous slots and a Head (Crown Only) slot, plus they usually have some magic paths, but these aren't the same kinds of dragons as "drake" dragons. "Drake" dragons can be summoned with national spells, but there are no units in the base game that have both the Drake tag and a Head slot; all the "drake" dragons have only 2 Miscellaneous slots and none of them get any magic paths when made Commanders (though most of them are Transformation options that have a chance to add or increase a path on a Transforming mage). The zmey is a "drake"-type dragon, so no Head slot and no magic paths, even if Commanderized.

Ah yes, the drake ones do not get any crown slots or magic.
I thought we were talking about real dragons and there is that one event fire dragon.

Yeah, the thread was starting to get confusing; the game can sometimes be kinda vague on some categories like "dragon" vs. "drake." :/ Which wouldn't be such a big deal if there weren't category-dependent interactions like with Dragon Master...

EDIT: Like, most drakes say in their flavour text that they'rge "reptiles," except for the Sea Serpent, which is called a "monster" and "serpent" (serpents being reliably depicted in the game as being closer to a snake than a Western dragon, with the possible exception of Pythium's four-legged "serpent" mounts), and the Zmey is actually referred to as a "dragon," though the text differentiates this kind of "dragon" as not a "true dragon" but something between that and a "wyvern" (whose own flavour text calls it a "reptile" and a "drake"). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

P.S. I just realized the Sea Serpent gained Coral Horn and Tail Sweep attacks in Dom6! Neat! #cameraflash

Hmm. I remembered how I found out about the dragon event in Dom 4, and realized that this information could be considered a spoiler. Sorry to anyone whose experience may have been harmed!

The zmey is very cool, wish the other drakes were not undisciplined as well, kind of ruins them for me.
Also kind of odd how the Tarrasque (awaken Tarrasque) is described as a dragon but does not have the drake tag and thus does not get better with DRAGON master.

it always bugged me that the attack is the abrupt end of that chain, and that it doesn't lead you to finding the dragon's cave in a nearby province with treasure

instead it's just "oh great, I got goats again, I know what that means... I gotta hold a barbecue before someone else does"

It can be assumed that this dragon does not yet have its own lair. A well-established dragon would send its minions to get food. In addition, if the player has blood, glamour or astral mages, the dragon itself can be considered a prize.
