AI keeps NAP while getting Domkilled?!
I assume that is Vanilla Stupid? Or did some of the usual Workshop items break things?

AI really dislikes breaking NAP if it doesn't feel strong enough to challenge you.
This includes when slowly withering away.

In general if you want any kind of challenge turn diplomacy off.

reminds me of how chess ai which can't win will still make moves to stall out the game as long as possible, heh.

i think it is broadly correct to make an ai unwilling to attack when it evaluates it's outmatched. only exception would be to make multiple weaker ais align against a strong opponent as one of the things its algorithm considers.
Ai is trash

Agreed; the AI should evaluate the strength of potential alliances. Since there can be *a lot* of potential alliances, Monte Carlo is probably the best way to pick. Also it adds some unpredictability instead of the AI picking the "objectively best" alliance each time.

I guess this is why they always break them in higher difficulties.
AI also just... doesn't understand the Dom layer at all

EA and LA Mictlan will literally die to dying dom every game.
