Proper support for multiplayer?
This is a big one for me. I want to get back into Dominion but not having proper support for Multiplayer was a big killer. You had to download a bunch of stuff, sign up for games on a website... ugh

It feels a bit bare bones and most of the organization still requires a Discord. Otherwise you have no way to announce games or know who is in the game.

Its redundant because at the end of the day; you are still relying on a player-Host.

It would benefit greatly if players had a way to talk to each other or even add themselves on Steam without having to kick up Discord. Moreover it would really encourage a Pick-up-MP-withStrangers fashion over "organizing on discord"

Dom 6 will have a lobby system similar to Conquest of Elysium 5.
So good news for you, nothing but the base game should be required.

Dominions 6 contains an ingame lobby function and does not require you to sign up to another website, use an external app, or download anything other than the game itself (and any relevant map, via the lobby, when you join a game).

does this also support taking turns once per day like we did using llamaserver? I am not interested in sitting around for 8 hours to play a session but instead take my turns daily

Depending on the hosting timetable for the game you've joined (or organised yourself) you may or may not have a time limit on how long you have to submit a new turn.

Quite possible (and common I imagine) to have games where people take a turn only once per day, or even less frequently than that.

In the interest of answering possible further questions, the game can support the following methods of multiplayer game:

1. PBEM or any other file exchange with external tools
2. Direct connect server games (LAN or WAN)
3. Server games run by bots/external tools
4. Hotseat on a single PC
5. Server games run using the ingame lobby system, on official servers

Great news on the Lobby addition. The group I play with have always 'lanned' or IP'd. Playing 60 turn games (5 years) took us about 3 hours at the most.

Guys, sorry, i still don't get it.
For example, two players, me and my friend, what is the best and easiest way for us to play online together?

Go to the lobby and set up a game

Start game.
-> Network
-> Enter Game Lobby
-> Create New Game (Name and Password)
-> Chose Era
-> Set up players
-> Game settings (If you want a co-op click disciples game at the bottom)
-> Set one player to pretender and one player as disciple. The pretender has more choices at start and determines bless and scales.
-> Set thrones/victory conditions and Geography
-> Chose enemies (Random Land nations at defensive is recommended. THey can be in teams as well, but you can have several single enemy pretenderts.

the multiplayer lobby needs some serious modernization. You can't filter by password/not password without selecting this weird filter button (should use toggles on the side) and once you're in a game there doesn't seem to be any sort of notification once it starts or when your next turn is (so far) and it doesn't keep track of existing games you currently have joined. It's very much so a mess

I also thought there should be some kind of notification about that.

Let's say you join 10 games that take one turn per 24 hours. You'd have to manually go and find those games each time to play your turn in the massive list of hundreds of games

You can have up to five active games no problem. They're right there in the shortlist under multiplayer.

When I click on "Network" from the opening screen there is a list at the top showing me "open previous connection" with the games I had previously joined listed.
