Overall Dom6 is a more refined version of Dom4 (due to massive changes from 4 to 5), therefore I can highly recommend playing 6 (or at least 5). There are numerous changes under the hood and numerous changes that are almost groundbreaking (the change from turnbased battles to basically realtime battles).
To make it short: They all are good games and the differences are huge.
If it's worth it is entirely a personal question. If you're unsure, play a bit with Dom4 to see if you actually like the series. If you do, upgrade.
In terms of which is a better singleplayer experience I think Dom6 is considerably better, but it costs money! You already own Dominions 4 which is also a fine game.
Tbh, I knew 6 would be a must for multiplayer anyway so makes sense to buy if get into it.
If you like 4 and start playing it a bunch, go ahead and buy 6.
