Taking a Tier 3 Monolith Throne (Strategy Advice)
I'm MA Pangaea, but I do want to know what's the most efficient method in taking a tier 3 throne with a Monolith? Of course the battles start with it casting Curse of Stones, then it mega-buffs its units, debuffs my units, etc. - makes it difficult to win unless I do something specific.

Even since Dominions 5, I've never been great at fighting that kind of setup.

What does the Monolith have as a defensive force?

Is that the throne with Monolith + stationary guys that shoot lightning projectiles?

Yes, and tons of Kithaironic Lions. My losses against this thing are quite severe. I'd need a bunch of mages with a specific spell, but nothing sticks out to me as being the wonder-spell I need.

Do you have the earth paths and gems to summon ogres? Generally in D5 the way to take out those rocky immobiles was to get some beefy dudes with blunt weapons to break them up like it's anger management night at the local quarry. The alt 5 spell Shatter is another good bet if you can get a few mages into range and casting it. Or make a couple of thugs with the Smasher item equipped and have them do the deed.

It's typically a bloody affair, since the monolith doesn't usually sit complacently while you do the hammering, and its pals have lots of opinions, too, which is why I like ogres for the job because I never mind much when they die in piles getting it done. The good news is that the monolith's most dangerous friends, the watcher statues that toss lightning, are vulnerable to the same medicine the smasher is. If you can get some aoe shock resistance on your crew, that's ideal, and that's part of what makes thugs tempting for this work: it's easy to protect them from the big hitters on the other side.

Warning: this advice passed its expiration date about 14 hours ago and may or may not still be efficacious. It worked pretty well before that, though.

That worked effectively. Simply used 8 Pans to simultaneously summon Forest Trolls and sent them in, and they bashed the Monolith into rubble. Thank you!

EDIT: Actually, my battle log is completely desynced from what I saw in the battle. The battle replay shows me winning, but the log says I lost. What gives?

Yikes. There was a pernicious problem in the early days of Dom 5 where the battle replay and the actual battle summary were not in sync. It took a while for Illwinter to root out, and I guess it's conceivable that it has returned. I hope not.

As I recall, the battle summary was the honest truth and what you watched spool out in the replay was the incorrect version, but there's no guarantee this is the same bug or that it works the same way now.

Do you own the throne province now?

I did not own the province. I had to attack it again, and then it worked. So in this case, the battle log was the true result.

I've got this happening too - the battle summary is not in sync with the replay ...... It seems to be more prevalent after reloading a game ... maybe... when looking at the summaries from something that happened pre-load....
