Rise of.. the Pantokrator?
I've been playing Dominions since the very first game, way back when I used to skip school to get some turns of it in. Ever since then the "Pantokrator" has been a nebulous figure that has never factored into the games in any non-lore sense. To my mind he was always implied as the one deity that actually created the world the pretenders are fighting over, but of course is long gone by the time of the game.

When I saw the title of Dom6 I was thrilled on a personal level, because for a couple of years now I've been kicking around the idea to make a mod where the Pantokrator could awaken/return as some kind of super overpowered global foe, with extremely high dominions strength especially, come to crush the pretenders to the throne.

So, Rise of the Pantokrator - is it possible/likely they will be playing a more direct role in this game? Or is it just referring to your pretender taking over? The second, more boring option there doesnt seem to fit right to me - it would not make sense for your "pretender" to become the original creator, as obviously they were created, and there is a lot of lore about things the Pantokrator did in game that would contradict them actually being the god you create.

Fingers crossed there is some cool new mechanic to get the big guy involved!

The Pantokrator is the one true deity that rules over all.

If you start a new game of Dominions, the old Pantokrator just left, leaving the throne empty for all the Pretenders to fill. The whole game is basically a race to see who gets to be the next Pantokrator.

The winning screen even tells you that you are now the new Pantokrator and that after a long time of reign you too are called away, leading to a new cycle of all the previously beaten/sealed Pretenders and other powerful beings trying to succeed this time.

Pantokrator is not really a being, it's a title.

Ahh, damn. I guess just the similarity to the word creator made me head-translate pantokrator as "first creator" in some weird greeky way. Now I see it is an actual word and does not imply what I thought. Damn.

Well, still could be cool to have the last one come back or something :)

It's an old title for the God of Israel.
It means "Ruler of All", but is also often translated as "Almighty" or "all-powerful".

Pretty sure it has nothing to do with "creator".

In the lore there have been many Pantokrators and I think none of them were the creator. It's just a title for the most powerful being in the world. They who are lord over all pretenders. Eventually they leave this world to explore the void and a new ascension war starts.

I think it means God is considering marriage and procreation. Boing!
