How to deal with AI ASM plane spam?
Whenever I do a naval batle in any campaign where there is one, the AI tends to spam all of their aircraft at once at me. Any ship with CIWS can obviously not handle such a spam, even when I put 8 or 12 of them together. Whenever an enemy unit sees a ship, I can obviously expect tons of MiG-29Ks or A-6Es to come out of nowhere and completely destroy my command ship, which usually happens. Is there any way I can counter these spams of AI ASM planes?

Others might disagree with me, but the best I can offer is to:

A) Have some air superiority fighters ready to intercept. This means both a combat air patrol up to keep an eye out for them and a reserve of a couple jets to go and intercept the raid. You won't bag them all, but you'll start to bleed them. Repeat until you've bled em dry.

B) Keep a cushion of lower cost (but still attractive) ships visible to the enemy. Get them to go after something that really shouldn't and pick em off with fighters.

C) Be concious of where your ships' CIWS is located. I fought a number of battles where my ships would get destroyed by what seemed to be far too few missles. I realized that some ships' CIWS was only able to cover from, say, stern or beam on. Figure it out on an individual basis and adjust positioning accordingly.

D) Keep your ships close to each other, but not too close. When they're too close, the explosions they make when they sink can damage and suppress your other vessels - making them more vulnerable further attack..

E) Accept that you'll take losses. There's an old saying that the bomber will always go through, and this more or less applies to Red Dragon. Barring an intercept, they'll still get their munitions off, you just have to make them pay.

As I said, others might disagree with me, but I've found these to be good general rules to follow. The real key is keeping a CAP up to find the raid and bleed it.

I have also found that if you can get a small island in between their launch point and your visible ships you can place some AA infantry or call in some AA landing craft to do an AA intercept before or just as they get to your command ships.
