Wargame: Red Dragon

Wargame: Red Dragon

This game or C&C series?
I can get the entire command and conquer series for $20:

http://www.amazon.com/Command-Conquer-Ultimate-Collection-Online/dp/B009IR1SR0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1397923882&sr=8-1&keywords=command+and+conquer

I've played tiberium wars some before, and I loved it.
Should I get Wargame: Red Dragon or the Command and Conquer bundle, and why?

Many Thanks,
Grand Goose

This game is fantastic, but it is much more of sim that something like C&C. If you are looking for basebuilding and APM, then C&C is probably your choice. If you want want complex high stakes strategy with an emphasis on combined arms and positioning, there is no better choice I know of. There is a bit of a learning curve so expect to have your ass handed to you if you jump into multi.

The two big differences between them are

CC is more base building and resource gathering; wargame has niether of these

Wargame requires you to use different units working together, where CC you can build a bunch of units and rush the enemy

Both have thier good points it is just a matter of what type of game you are looking for. The best thing you can do is head over to youtube and watch some videos to get a feel of the game

There is a huge difference between base building RTS and this game..... So it is a matter of taste!! if you seek fun and easy playable RTS buy C&C, if you seek something more realistic go for wargame !! It's that easy!! (both good games in their sort)

I'd say get one now and the other one later. C&C is pretty much the precursor of RTS, and is in my opinion still unsurpassed at traditional RTS (If you're willing to forget the last one that came out, can't remember the name right now). W:RD is also very very good in both SP and MP, but very different too. It's far deeper and slower, and requires greater knowledge of the game's units and mechanics. Spam tactics will almost always fail for instance and combined arms tactics are a must if you want to succeed.

I would get C & C if you are new to the strategy game genre.

C & C is a 1995 game all they do is change the graphics.

Supreme Commader FA with Sorian AI mod is the best war stratagy game to date.

Most definatly go for C&C and experience entire C&C universe story as well, as playing one of pillars that shaped RTS gaming in its own time. One thing to consider though whether u can stand outdated graphics. You can always pick up Wargame RD later on some sale with -75% price tag.
On the other hand, if you want only to play multiplayer, then RD might be worth considering, coz single player campagns there are utter ♥♥♥♥. For a good sp experience of Wargame series I would reccomend you looking at Wargame European Escalation.

For base building game I would choose Supreme Commander - Forged Alliance.
Simply the best base building game on the market.

BUT, if you are interested in non-base building, and LOVE MP and know others with a headset and Mic, this game will provide many hours of fun.

Love C&C Series, but it runs like a dog when units count goes way up.

Imo Supreme Commander is more into macro than micro game, also setting and unit design is kinda meh, at least for my tastes. In case of Supreme Commander I would hardly reccomend trying it before buying.

C&C is dead if you want MP.

Having a knowlege of the phrase "China will grow larger" is essential to fully enjoying the wargame chat main game so maybe get both and play cnc first. Joe Kucan and Frank Klepacki are very nice.

But then play Red Dragon. It is the best. 10v10 low point.

C&C was my fav RTS since the 90's , however it was destroyed by the EA MP only cancer that hits a lot of games these days. Theres some others too World in conflict - if anyone can make a patch to run it in 64bit without crashing. Also WW3 black gold
