Noob Q...Do forests block the line of sight of units hidden in them?
Or can they see out? Thanks!

Depends on how far in the forest they are. Recon will allow then to see better.

Yes, if they're at the very edges of the forest then no, but otherwise yes

Huh. Is there any way to test wiether your close enough to the edge?

If you click on the "fire position" button, it will then show you if your unit has line of sight to wherever your mouse is. Green means it can see. This should solve all your line of sight troubles.

its really wonky sometimes even I am surprised at how deep into the forest the enemy can fire. On some maps you can shoot through quite thick tree lines on others the thinnest ones block you.

Try to develope a feeling for it.

Even the most stealthy recon in deep forest can be detected quite easily from a large distance sometimes. Don't ask me why though...
