The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Really bad frame rate issues, best fix?
This seems like a pretty common occurrence among the playerbase; I get frame drops quite often, it happened before and continues after I installed one mod (and it's an audio mod). The framerate got so consistently bad during The Beast fight with Tainted Jacob that it actually felt like I was cheating because it gave me so much reaction time to dodge.

I heard disabling VSync will fix, but is there seriously no option to do this from the main settings and I instead have to manually delete in the local files?

One other fix I researched was to go into NVidia control panel and switch management mode to max performance, but when I try this I get an error saying I don't have access, even when I run as admin. This probably means I need to rollback my drivers but I'll wait and see if anyone has a simpler fix before doing that.

Tysm in advance.

Bump. Anyone know how to fix this??
Try setting threaded optimization to off in nvidia control panel. And check if that works. I had it enabled by accident and it decreased my performance in isaac by a lot. But by default it should be in auto, so this wont probably help you.

You can try turning off vsync and changing maxrenderscale from 2 to 1. But i think they mostly help GPU-bound users. Those 2 settings are found in options.ini in "documents/my games/The binding of isaac (whatever DLC you have)/"

Also you can create a "config.ini" file and put it in your install folder: "The Binding of Isaac/resources". Inside config.ini you can add any of the following settings:

EnableColorCorrection=1
EnableCaustics=1
EnableShockwave=1
EnableLighting=1
EnableFilter=1
EnablePixelation=1
EnableBloom=1
EnableWaterSurface=1
EnableInterpolation=1

1 to enable, 0 to disable. By default they are all 1. Keep in mind some settings can affect gameplay like "EnableWaterSurface", which if you disable it then some water enemies will insta-spawn and in online this can cause desyncs. For fps you could try to disable lighting, caustics, shockwave, filter,bloom and color correction. Of course the game will look uglier.

This is based on Repentance. I dont know if everything i said works in older DLCs

But control panel telling you that you dont have access is indeed weird. Maybe is a driver issue?
