The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Do I need DLC to be able to play with Mods?
I had bought this game on sale, I saw that the base game was very cheap, then I played it for a while and left it thrown away, but recently I played it again and discovered that it had mods, I was glad to see that this game had support for mods, I went to the workshop to download "External Item Descriptions", but I saw that it was not in the game, I enter the workshop again and I see that it requires DLC, I start to see other mods, and most of them require Afterbirth+.

Do I really need to buy the dlc just to play with mods?!?

Yes, to install mods from Steam Workshop you need to buy DLCs. At minumum you'll need to buy both Afterbirth and Afterbirth Plus. If you have money, buy Repentance too.

Alternatively, you can get mods made specifically for Afterbirth and Rebirth from here:

But manage your expectations.

The workshop is for the Afterbirth+ and Repentance (which requires AB+ to run) expansions only. And that's because lua mod support is added by Afterbirth+.

If you're on Rebirth or Afterbirth, forget about the workshop and lua mods entirely. Check moddingofisaac.com instead. Don't expect too much from Rebirth/AB mods though, modding is quite limited on those versions.
