Item pool question

Since when could you not force all items to spawn from a secret room?

Just spent an hour plus emptying my item pools in a secert room after finally getting a game breaking combo and I couldn't get any devil or angle room only items to spawn in it before getting getting locked to HP ups. All I need is the razor and godhead to 100% the game and just now I find this out. At least I got a complete Meat Boy out of this. But damn I wish I had known before hand.

Do curse rooms still give them or no? Didn't think of seeding one of those with coins while I still had the ability to do so.

Umm from my knowledge, you could never force devil and angel room items to spawn in the secret room in the original Isaac. That was only a thing in the Community Remix because of how they messed up the pools by adding new items. And curse rooms have their own item pool now.
