In the intro, Mom hears the voice of God. In your opinion, is the voice just her crazy imagination, or is it actually Him? Speculation thread.

The big question that has to be answered first is what the player is actually seeing. It could be reality, someone's insane thoughts, an imaginary story in a sane Isaac's head, or other possibilities. Given all of Isaac's drawings/writings, role playing, and cosplay, the whole game is very likely a story he came up with riffing off the biblical BoI, with each ending past the Epilogue him choosing to lengthen it. In that case, she's hearing whoever Isaac says she is. ;)

If you go with the story being reality, then Satan is real and likely the voice. He's the Father of Lies, etc. etc. Insanity could be via Satan as well. Interestingly, in most games played Isaac being evil becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I'm sure people can come up with lots of other viable options, but those seem the 2 most likely ones.

Don't forget once you are far into a playthrough isaac looks pretty ugly with a ton of crap on him which might represent all the crap God and Jesus (one in the same) were given throughout the Bible but at the end of the Bible and the game they look totally normal again because God and Isaac never really changed dispite how they were portrayed or treated. *X-FILES THEME CONTINUES PLAYING*
