Room timeouts?

I had a room i could not complete, there was a gap and i had really short Number 1 tears, the room was not "Impossible" but the last enemy was untouchable and i couldn't kill him, then, while waiting for the A.I. to come into range a Heart Consumable dropped and the door opened. Was there an update that made this possible, has it always been in the game, and does anyone know the conditions for this event to occur?

I believe that it is in fact programmed into the game, as in, you can NOT get stuck in a room due to impossible to hit enemies, such as a Boil being behind rocks in a way that makes it impossible to kill it without a bomb to clear the rocks.

every room has like a timer which will automatically open the doors if u cant kill all of the monsters, i believe it was something like 2-5 min?
