Nobody forces you to kill mega satan, scnce you dont get anything for killing him, however you have unlocks for lost.
2. If you ever die, press escape button before the animation completes. It will pause the game. Then hit ctrl-alt-del and end the issac-ng.exe process. When you start the game back up and hit continue, you will reload the game to the last save you did. (saves are done by exiting out of the current game )
So just exit the game every couple of rooms and continue on.
3. Dead cat gives 9 lives so super useful.
4. If you didn't know, all devil items are free, so always pick em up.
5. GET THE TIME SLOWER! Donate 999 coins to the donation machine and you will unlock the stop watch. You would then buy it in a shop. It slows down EVERY unit and projectile and even the music of the game. This is hands down the best item you can hope for in a lost run.
P.S.
I did beat the game with The Lost using a combo of these techniques
You could luck out with some synergy of Gnawed Leaf and beat him with zero skill, "legitimately", or resort to "save scumming" which actually requires at least some amount of skill.
The Lost is badly designed so in my opinion there's no problem in using "unfair" methods.
So far i beat chest and dark room (i beat it just now super hyped atm xD)
Both times i beaten the game i had stopwatch.. that item makes it possible.. out of like 300 runs not a single time have i had holy mantle :(
So yeah.. My tactic is visit every shop hoping to find stopwatch after that it's bearable :) Nine lives helps aswell
In the end it's extremely exhausting and frustrating playin with it..
Now i only need to complete boss rush with it arghh.. so much pain ...
1) Play with the hardmode on, do not turn it off. You will not unlock everything if you play on the Normal and the extra runs you'll have to do will drive you insane.
2) I did not bother with the "lucky starting holy mantle" crap. That is just too annoying. Way I did it - I restarted the run over and over again until I got a curse room with either a) Guppy's collar, b) Dead Cat in it or c) Teleport to the Devil room with one of these items + a little something something.
DO NOT FORGET THAT YOU RESPAWN IN THE PREVIOUS ROOM YOU'VE BEEN WHEN YOU DIE WITH COLLAR/DEAD CAT so if you got the dead cat/collar from the red chest, just try to walk slowly into the spikes without exiting the room. If you managed to get them in the devil room, you'll have to run out of the curse room and die on the starting room, because if you die in the curse room, you'll just respawn in the devil room. It's complicated but if you try it yourself you'll see what I mean
3) Go for Guppy. I can't express this enough: Guppy is a lifesaver here. Always check Gold/Red chests and hope for the Paw/Head/Tail/Dead cat. In devil rooms you may find the hairball if you've already become Guppy once. With 9 lives and Guppy transformation I had no problems beating the final bosses. No holy mantle used. Getting Hive Mind helps aswell.
Although I did get the D100 using the mantle, but I had no Guppy transformation then.
4) Dodge, dodge, DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODGEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
You need to learn the enemy pathings and AI scripting. Mainly in the Basement/Cellar and Caves and it's harder counterpart. One word of advice for the jumping spiders - don't stay too far away from them, they have some weird scripting when they can jump incredible distances and hit you. So yeah, stay not too far but not too close either.
I wasted alot of hours, but if I had this tactic earlier, I think I would have saved myself a couple of hours. Guppy is just too good to miss. Treasure rooms in spawns are terrible and the luck needed to get a good item is just not worth it in my opinion.
Hope this helps, let me know how it turns out and good luck with The Lost.
That's the whole design of it, I'm trying to get the boss rush with him and it's a nightmare. Sucked all the fun I've had with the game...
You have to have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of luck to reach the goal. Of course, don't make mistakes either but it's mainly a luck game. You get sniped by spiders that go through rocks or you get stomped by gish and/or brimstoned by Monstro 2 from off the screen...
NOT fun.
This character is NOT difficult, it is masochistic, and I personally hate it (and I'm far from the only one). As a bonus character it's fine for those that are masochistic but it shouldn't have been tied to items.
So you say that if you are a completionist, you are ALSO masochistic?
That is silly, you would get along well with Mc Millen... :P
And that's not even enough for most runs... :/
I feel for you, all the good vibes, hope you can get rid of that stupid design (until dlc, which I'm not interested in because of the lost). I decided to buy and play mass effect 3 as vacation from this super stupid game rebirth became because of the lost. Did I mention I hate that design? :P
Thanks for the advice, although I knew most of them so it doesn't help me much. I still get buttpenetrated by seemingly random ai (like small spiders going through rocks and hit me). Thanks for the big spider jumping one but it's not always possible, in big rooms for example...
