Celtic Cross achievment not unlocking on Steam

Just as the title says. This is the only time an achievement hasn't unlocked for me. maybe due to the new patch. Is there a fix for this?

They made it so if you use mods - even FPS mods - it disables achievements. Remember: no fun allowed.

that's bull hockey. Is there a way to disable mods or do I have to manually do it myself.
