Necronomicon not unlocking?

I am pretty sure I have used the Death card more than 4 times, but I still ahve not unlocked it. Does using the card in challenges count towards it? Is there some way I can see how many times I have actually used it?

No, I'm pretty sure that anything done or obtained during a challenge does NOT count for your stat page or unlocking an achievement.

Does it actually have to be used on enemies? Or can it be used in an empty room?

Challenges have all unlocks and achievements disabled, so no using it in a challenge won't work.
I don't know about the empty room thing, i always used it in rooms with enemies

Yeah I got it. I guess I was just mistaken as to how often I used it.
Make sure you arent using it in seeded runs or challenges
