Nothing! If I get a shooting helper will they have explosive shots, or did I just get a worthless item?

That's the main problem with Azazel. It's quite a monster to start with but a lot of items is useless to him and the first one is the tears modifier. So Ipecac won't give Azazel nor your followers/helpers explosive tears. But if you get items like Sad Bombs you'll have your IPECAC rain. (Doesn't work with Tammy's Head, it's doing a omni directionnal mini brimstone)

I did notice the poison, I assumed it didn't give you damage because normally you'd get explosions

It gives a damage increase and poisons enemies.

I case someone is looking this up in 2025, it DOES give you an explosive at the end of your beam everytime you fire now.

I hope it was only the poison, like people in this tread said, but alas :(
