The Gnawed Leaf - a game breaking synergy
I just had a run in which I found the Gnawed Leaf, under most circumstances it seems like this item wouldn't be too powerful as shooting tears or using any item breaks the invincibility, greatly limiting its usefulness. However I was fortunate to also find the Daddy Long Legs item; the result, walk into a room, stand still and let Daddy Long legs do all the hard work.

These two items, all by themselves (although some orbitals sped the process up) carried me through to killing Mom's Heart without the slightest hint of effort and the only damage taken was through boredom on my own behalf. I'm all for a good fun game breaking synergy but this was a bit of a dull one.

As a suggestion, I think that limiting the time that Gnawed Leaf grants invincibility would see a good compromise in the usefulness of the item while dissuading the potential of game breaking abuse (as if it were used as it is right now, you'd take hefty damage if monsters crowd around and it wears off).

No need to nerf something you might never come across anymore.
I found the two items together just once, in 170 hours of gameplay.

The thing is, without a familiar that attacks without your input, Gnawed Lead is pretty useless and given how rare those are, it isnt a common occurance to get them. It seems a bit odd to nerf an incredibly rare combo just because it's powerful.

Honestly, even if you did have to nerf one (which you shouldn't), the grandaddy long legs is far more powerful in a standard game than the leaf (which isn't a difficult trait to have).

I seriously hope they don't ever nerf a few OP(and very RARE) synergies. Like gnawed leaf + attacking companion that is indeed one of them. Stand still in a room, and let the companion(s) take care of it.

There is already way enough useless items as it is now, why nerf the few items that actually can make a really good combination and make a satisfying run. At least it's not cheating , because it simply is in the game.

It's a rare item. You've got your Stopwatches, Gnawed Leaf and Brimstone and you've got your Tiny Planet and Soy Milk. There's your balance. If all items were equally useful, it'd be kind of boring.

Don't even need a familiar. Pretty much any orbital that does damage or items that make it so enemies get hurt when they touch you. Found Gnawed Leaf + E. Coli in the Chest in a run that was practically lost (2 red hearts), just stood still and beat ???.

I don't mind that it exists though, there are tons of other combos that win runs with very little effort.

I found this combo together a number of times in the first few days, but as I unlocked more items it became much less common. The few times I've found Gnawed Leaf lately, I haven't found any auto attackers to use with it. I did do a full-on cheese run early on where I went all the way through the heart using it. I was hoping an achievement would pop.. like "The Cheese has appeared in the basement!" but no dice.

"This combo breaks the game" is part of the fun of Isaac.

I enjoyed Pyromaniac+Dr. Fetus. It took one of the toughest attack mods in the game and allowed to me to just run around all willnilly thowing bombs at myself.

It's Isaac. There are crazy fkin' gamebreaking combos once in a while. And it is awesome.

Funnily enough, STRAIGHT after reading this, I loaded up a run. I was doing fairly well (had 20/20 piercing shots and some good pills). I then found one of those those dice rooms (number one) and decided to go ahead and reroll all my items. I ended up with Gnawed Leaf + Gullotine with Daddy Long Legs and Eve's Bird(?). Talk about easy mode. I went all the way to Mega Satan and demolished him by standing next to him.

I probably wouldn't be able to beat him any other way. He's a beast.

I beat megasatan for the first time today. I had halo of flies and two full health pills.

Yes... because a combo that'll take you like 20 minutes to take down mega satan is oped... lets not consider the things that will do it in like 3 minutes.... Gnawled leaf with the right things can be a certain win but it's still slow... very very slow. Now let's look at something like Brimstone + Tammy's head that'll clear near every room in the game in 3 seconds... including around 80% of boss rooms.

Brimstone + Ludovico technique + Spoon Bender. Ever had that one? You barely have to aim. In small rooms you actually don't have to aim the death ring at all.
