The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
Best character for bad players?
I really like this game, but I'm also pretty bad (as in only killed mom 3 times in 5 hours of play).
What character is the easiest/best in your opinion?

General consesus is that Azazel is easy mode. Although, his range is pretty poor. He makes up for it with flight and immense starting power. You could literally win on any difficulty easily without picking up a single item. For a new player: picking up items should give them a good chance to win.

Back in WOTL, i was a bit of a noob and i played as maggy a lot, a little more margain for error with that extra HP and the you heart possibly?
of course Isaac :S , neutral stats. And dont try to play with maggy ( +hp, - stats).
I mean Samson rewards you for taking damage, so there's that.
My list of characters by 'Easiness':

1) Azazel: While his 3 black hearts don't leave much room for error, Azazel's short-range brimstone and damage wreck anything and drastically reduces the tediousness of killing bosses. Unlocking him (3 deals with the Devil) is also fairly easy if you are willing to forgo a run.

2) Samson: Virtually identical to Isaac except for Bloody Lust. Bloody Lust makes Samson weaker at first, but killing enemies or getting hit increase his damage for the floor. This makes Samson 'reward' getting hit. He is quite difficult to unlock, unless Azazel. :)

3) Magdalene: Identical to Isaac except she trades a bit of speed for a bit of HP. She also starts with the Yum Heart, a decent early-game item that replenishes one heart. IMO health is more useful then speed, not to mention devil deals.

4) Isaac: Balanced and powerful with even stats and no items (save the unlockable D6) and a bomb. Doesn't need to be unlocked!

5) Lazarus: Virtually the same as Isaac. He has a pill instead of a bomb and the item 'Lazarus Rags'. 'Lazarus Rags' provide an extra life, though this is more useful than it sounds as you come back with only one heart, which is fairly useless in later chapters. Easy to unlock with Azazel (get 4 soul/black hearts).

6) Cain: A speedier and luckier character than Isaac. He has 2 HP instead of 3 HP and starts with a key instead of a bomb. He has the lucky foot, which increases his luckiness. He is less likely to get negative pill effects and more likely to get chests and devil/angel deals.

7) Judas: Huge potential for power but reliant on RNG. He has extra damage in exchange for having one HP. He has the Book of Belial, which increases his damage for the current room. Defeats bosses quickly but he is very frail. Likened to a glass cannon.

8) Eden: It's kinda hard to rate Eden. He can be powerful but he can also be terrible. Due to his unreliability he is not an easy character. Better for those who can make a strategy on the go.

9) Eve: Eve is a tricky and powerful character. She can do lots of damage but it is often very risky as the ♥♥♥♥♥ of Babylon only activates at 1 heart. The Dead Bird is fairly powerful too, but she has lackluster damage and her HP doesn't make up for it, as she relies on low HP for her damage.

10) ???: Pretty much a really weak hybrid of Isaac and Azazel. Consider it the noob version of ???.

11) ???: What did you think? :)

Azazel, no doubt about it. Or Maggy, coz of Yum Heart and 4 red hearts from the start.
I actually find Maggie more difficult to play because of her slow speed, as it creates a significant disadvantage if you get bosses/enemies that chase you, and the yum heart takes up your active item slot.

Thank you for all this info.

Also, is there something wrong with me, because I prefer tears over azazels laser. I've gotten to the floor with mom's heart with isaac, but only to caves II with azazel.
I would rate Cain and Isaac much higher. Cain's luck really helps with getting keys and bombs, and Isaac is rediculously imbalanced once you get his D6. But that's a difficult unlock.
