how old is isaac?

how old do you think isaac is? i mean, some people call him a baby, like they call ??? "blue baby". but he's not a baby.
in one of the cut scenes, he knows how to go potty and doesn't wear diapers, so it seems like he is toddler age...maybe 3 years old?
but in other cut scenes, you see him interacting with other children like maybe he is in kindergarten that would make him about 5?
he also seems to know how to read because in one ending you see him reading the bible...of couse i knew how to read at 5 years old myself.
plus, he cries...a lot. but lots of 5 year olds cry and i guess i would cry too if i was in his situation.
so my guess is 5 years old.

the game calls all he little allies "babies" but that seems appropriate as they appear to be the aborted fetuses of other children the mom had.

i'm thinking isaac is 5 but is there anything official?



this also makes me think of some suggestions for items if they plan to ad more content, they could add some "Baby" themed items for isaac like to imply that maybe the mom still treats him like a baby even though he's not a baby anymore, like he could find a diaper and put it on or find a baby bottle full of breast milk or a baby rattle

That can't be, Isaac knows how to read... it shows in one of the ending cutscenes of the last game.

well i do know that the "blue baby" character does seem to be a reference to soething that actually happens in real life where a baby can be born and their face is blue from being deprived of oxygen.
maybe infanticide refers to the possibility that the mother might have killed other offspring, from the total amount of things that attack you in game...

although one possibility is that isaac might not even have been born yet and maybe this is all a dream. an unborn fetus can dream. there is the wire coat hanger item and when you pick it up, it goes through his head, like maybe the mother is trying to abort him while he's still in the womb. but i guess that doesn't make sense either because isaac reads the bible and draws with crayons and an unborn baby would not know of these things.

if isaac was an infant, how could he be sitting on the toilet pooping and reach for the toilet paper and there isn't any.
or his mom gives him a gift and he goes outside to play and the other kids start bullying him. those are not things that an infant would do.

I am pretty sure the game takes a double view on this issue. Aesthetically and literally speaking, Isaac is like 4. Metaphorically speaking, he is an infant. It is sort of like his regression through the ages as he descends into this dark realm.

he doesnt wear clothes because the mother took them away. the voice told her to take away everything that was sinful in his life...

i didn't realize egoraptor was aware of this game, it seems like none of those guys like james rolfe and doug walker and brentalfloss and whomever play pc games lol.

well hes young enough to be able to fit inside a chest with a cat (see final cutscene,you can see guppy's paw at the bottom of screen) so many 5 years at maximum .

There is also a previous Edmund McMillen game called (the expletive form of) C-Word, wherein a giant vag at one point spits out ???(Blue Baby). Not sure that helps, just something I thought I'd point out.

We know he can walk and use craynos so hes not a baby..he'd be under school age (<5) since there is no evidnce he goes to school.
