2. Press and hold R until there is a Treasure room right next to you. Do so until some OP item spawns like a mantle or an epic fetus (I got epic fetus on one of my runs so I could do it fast for the boss rush)
3. After clearing any room leave the game via the pause menu and continue the game by pressing Continue in the main menu. This is your way to save the game.
4. If you happen to die (and you will die a *** lot) quickly pause the game before the game over screen pops up and press alt+F4 to force the game to close. Then start the game again and press Continue in the main menu - you will be back at the last place you "saved" your game alive and well.
There's a good few items that really help with this. And as always, Holy Mantle is OP. A well timed Emperor Card can also be an easy win.
Holy mantle will make this a lot easier and also renders cursed rooms harmless, which is qutie a boon at times.
Oh so that's how people beat the game with the lost. And I was tryharding restarting 99999 times until I got the perfect combo "Holy mantle+Dead cat"
Hasn't that been patched out by now?
Dead cat still gives him 9 lives, but it was patched.
Either clearing the game with base stats should be made more feasible than it is, or The Lost should be given something more to compensate for his lack of health. A strong starting item, perhaps, or maybe three soul hearts at the start but no way to gain further health. Just a little bit of leeway for the situations where taking damage is too likely.
A setup I had that was actually broken was Unicorn Stump with Mom's Knife, I'm sure I don't have to explain why it was very good, and it doesn't even seem like it would be super rare. Unfortunatley I wasn't playing The Lost.
So the only way to beat the game as the Lost is by wasting hours of your life restarting the game in hopes of finding the mantle and 9 lives. I doubt anyone in his right mind would call it "fun" or "fair".
Anyone who values his tme and his nerves should feel zero shame in doing it in not-so-fair way just because the character and often the game itself are not fair.
TBH I'd highly recommend anyone to use the cheat engine to complete this "challenge" to save your nerves and time. This is not Dark Souls, you will not feel glorious joy in the end after many tries of beating this "boss", all you will feel is rage and an urge to punch mr.Mcmillen in his face. Which is not a way to live a happy life at all.
Such a stupid "challenge" should be dealt with accordingly. Better spend these hours with your family than trying hours and hours to beat this crap of a "challenge."
No if you cheat you way to an achievement whether its save scumming or cheat engine then you should be ashamed. Your now a fraud with an illegitimate achievement and you did it because you were simply not good enough but wanted it anyway.
If you cant handle the lost, dont play him.
The only ones who should feel ashamed are the ones who sit there in front of their monitors for hours restarting the floors then dieing anyway to start all over again and again with no sense of accomplishment or any joy whatsoever, wasting their precious time of their life and nerves just so a couple of unlocks in their singleplayer videogame would be "legit". Pathetic.
Gaming is a useless waste of time in general, so this coversation is meaningless. Whatever floats your boats, dudes, do what you wish to do..
