Why Can't You Reenter The Devil Room To Go To Sheol?
I stepped back into the boss room where I fought mom's heart out of habit to grab the boss's drop item, momentarily forgetting that the chest was there instead, and then the devil room to Sheol was closed off.
That's absurd.
I understand item devil rooms on all the other floors working like that, but preventing me from going to Sheol is just poor design. I had a really good run and was sure to beat the devil and proceed even further, but instead I had to toss a good run on a simple mom's heart win.

The devils room always have a chance to disappear if you leave, no matter what floor you're on.

You're technically not supposed to go to Sheol after beating Mom's Heart. When you unlock It Lives, the Trapdoor to Sheol will appear and you will be able to fight Satan.

There's no reason for it be like that when it's giving you the option to go to Sheol. I got screwed out of continuing and fighting Satan due to a quick brain fart. That's not okay, especially when it doesn't affect the gameplay at all. If they want to prevent you from going and collecting heart and whatnot on the floor before continuing down that's fine; just close off mom's heart or It lives' room, but leave the devil room open.

When you discover the reason, why any Devil/Angel room may disappear when you leave, you may also see why this room is no different than the others.

You telling me there's an actual reason due to lore? It better be a good reason, because at the moment I know none and I am not wild about it.

Nah, not a lore reason. ... But you could argue that you tend to accept these deals when you know that they won't stay forever, making the devil a better salesman.
But I meant a gameplay reason.

Once again, I understand gameplaywise on all the other devil rooms with items, etc. but preventing me from going to Sheol was ridiculous and doubly annoying since it would've been my last run before unlocking It Lives

You understand? Good.
So why should this one Room be different from all the others when there already are other, alternative ways to get to Sheol?

Maybe because it actually prevents progression instead of just not allowing you pick up some items? Seems like a plenty good enough reason to me

Sounds like a great cause of "you f:8bitheart:cked up"
I honestly don't see what you're getting at with this topic besides telling everyone that you f:8bitheart:cked up. This is something that has always been in the game. Why should it change just because its the door to sheol?

Because it completely blocks progression rather than making you miss out on some deals

It is still the Devil Room as it always is, but now it contains a ladder to an area you shouldn't be able to go to yet, how nice of the Devil to offer it to you - and for free at that, such a great guy. I would also shut the door when you just leave, not even taking the chance.

its not blocking progression, its blocking a randomly spawning shortcut. If it was blocking progession then it would've stopped you from unlocking the item from that run.

It blocked progression that really matters, as in what would've allowed me to unlock the It Lives fight.

Beating satan doesn't unlock "it lives" you unlock "it lives' by beating mom's heart a number of times.
