The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

So, the 'Solar System' and 'Suicide King' challenges...anybody got any advice?
I've tried both multiple times and have failed both miserably. I can make it as far It Lives on 'Solar System' before dying hilariously, on Suicide King the furthest I could make it is Necropolis 1. Anybody have any tips for making these challenges bearable? I know Solar System would get a lot easier if I manage to pick up Guardian Angel, but that's extremely rare and I shouldn't depend on it. I do have to hand it to Edmund on Suicide King...I had a feeling he'd do the Ipecac+My Reflection nonsense together at some point. Oy.

There are many ways to do these, I got lucky on the solar system challenge and got devil deals that tossed followers my way. The first time I tried the challenge I made it to Utero 2 and died to an insane double Fistula room. For Suicide King you just have to keep on your feet and move, do not shoot right off the rip when you enter a room. Try to find a item that can help you not get caught out by spiders like flying.

Well, I managed to complete Solar System by finding a Lil' Brimstone and using it as my primary offence, so that's an easy way to do it. Not sure there's a copout like that for Suicide King, though. I'm leaving it for last, haha.

Well, with Suicide King, you just have to knock the shots into an enemy. It will hit, even if it looks like the shot would go right over them. I got lucky and picked up Brimstone at some point.

Solar System, I can't quite remember. Try getting some invincibility items to take full advantage of the offensive capabilities of the orbitals. BFF and Hive Mind (The Tattoo and the Giant Blue Fly (Both of which are sold in the shop), help augment your flies. Distant Admiration deals the highest damage per second and is a respectable item in its own right, so when you have the chance, go for the enemy with it, and it will shred them before they can fight back.

Also for Solar System, you might consider Bob's Brain. Since you shouldn't be firing at all, there should be little opportunity for you to harm yourself.

Bob's brain was how I managed Solar System :P, and it may have played a large role in Family Man too :)

Just R until you have a good curse room.

in suicide king you can shoot your way thourgh doors to skip bad rooms.. and in solar system getting a shooting familiar from deal with devil room helps a lot or even an isaac head trinket

I did suicide king with the whip worm. Really helps for not killing yourself since most shots explode against walls.

Good RNG is your worst enemy though.

For suicide king, either get something that replaces your shots, or make it so your shots don't matter (like battery+Guppy head, or Magic Fingers, both of which are based on Ipecac's maximized attack stat), and only attack bosses, and even then only if needed.

For Orbitals one, I did it with a Brimstone Baby. It's amazing what that familiar can do. But getting another Pretty Fly, or the big fan, or even a cube of meat will help a huge deal (meat boy even moreso, but you can't hope for that chance).

Suicide king was painful, but I managed to do it with a high range/shot speed ipecac. Even with this, I was hurthing myself more than the actual enemies were Note: You cannot get flys from ipecac shots, which is either a major oversight or seriously blows.

Family man was alright since you're pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ OP at the start meaning you can get the early devil deals quite easily, which allows you to get a ton of damage up, which zombie baby's attack flies scale off of. The mom's heart fight was really difficult with this one simply do to how the fight works. I had to rely on mom killing the adds/bosses just due to the fact I couldn't get good positioning elsewise.

Just came here to say that Guppy's Head is an absolute legend for this challenge - I just completed it before I saw the above comment. I also got Small Rock and Wriggle Worm, which both helped. Seriously, combined with Small Rock too, the flies are so ridiculously OP it isn't even funny!

I did get lucky and find a 48-Hour Energy pill in the Cathedral to max out my flies immediately before fighting Isaac, which helped enormously. Still had to kill him using Ipecac shots at the end, but I wasn't in any major danger.

So yeah, find Guppy's Head.

I second getting bob's brain for the Solar System challenge, it's how I beat it.

For suicide king, get brimstone.

I finally got through solar system by picking up the bff item. Also got bob's brain towards the end and it did help against it lives. Also had headless baby which was good. Also had guppy's paw which was usefful. I converted all my hearts to soul hearts towards the end of the womb. Now I just need to beat suicide king. :-P

That best friends item was fun on my winning run, but I don't know if it actually helped. The trick is to damage enemies with the red fly, because it has the highest damage. Problem is, it's the closest to you. Luckily, I had a lot of health for the heart, and jsut tanked it while standing on top of the boss
