The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Make up your tier list! (Potential spoilers!)
I refuse to insist everyone censors anything here, if your reading these discussion boards in my opinion..you can't complain about spoilers. Read this at your own risk, you have been warned. I'm not only talking about the obvious spoiler, being the lost, but to secret items that may unlock that could potentially make a certain character more powerful (such as the satanic bible with ???.) Also, as awesome as Eden is, I feel it doesn't really belong on tier lists due to it's random nature it cannot be accurately ranked.

With that out of the way, my list!

Azazel (His short range brimstone gives him almost certain reliable damage each run. This isn't what pushes him over the edge though, it's his free flying that does so. This means access to many more consumables. As though he wasn't already strong enough, he starts with the fool card to rob a curse room or the boss rush room as well. Also, with tammys head being fairly common, it will allow him to insantly kill most rooms with an incredibly powerful short range burst of damage. This is enough to kill even Isaac in one burst. It's essentitally Krampuses head that does 3x more damage and can be used on every room.

Isaac (The D6 is an extremely, extremely powerful spacebar item. It may have been nerfed, however with the addition of battery consumables and 48 hour energy, it's still pretty rediculous as far as space bar items go. Allows you to not only gain better items on average, but have a higher chance to gain the "I win" items as well.)

Samson (This character has seen significant buffs in rebirth and as such, have made him incredibly powerful. He trades one damage, for the ability to scale based on kills and damage taken. This lasts for the floor. This ability allows him to never have zero damage on a run and it takes very few kills to gain the +1 boost putting him on par with the standard stats.)

Judas (Trades 2HP for the book of belial and a damage upgrade. Given the ability to trade 2HP for a damage upgrade, most of the time it'll be taken. This characters starts with that option, plus a free space bar item that turns out to be fairly powerful. It also happens to be the perfect item for the boss rush room, since it lasts for all waves.)

Cain (Trades 1HP for the lucky foot. Sadly the lucky foot no longer prevents negative pills, and as such this character has fallen in terms of power. However, with the increased consumables and better chance to recieve items from golden chests he still has his bonuses.)

Maggy (Trades 1 speed for 1 HP, also has the yum heart. If her spacebar item wasn't so poor, she'd be great. Sadly no speed upgrades as this character will doom your run against quick movers. However she may leverage this extra HP into a powerful devil item, if the oppertunity arrises. If it doesn't however, she falls short.)

Eve (Trades 1 damage and 1 HP for dead bird and ♥♥♥♥♥ of babylon. With dead bird being an incredibly bad item due to bad AI, it's essentitally trading 1 damage and 1HP for the ♥♥♥♥♥ of babylon. Even activating at 1HP instead of 0.5HP, she's still a very poor character.)

Lazarus (Isaac with a poor version of dead cat, granted it allows resurection inside the room but it'll rarely be useful. Best used if you abuse the pill and restart the run until you find an HP upgrade, allowing him to be Maggy without the speed downgrade. Even if you use this cheesy tactic however, you'd still be better with the D6. Just being plain worse than Isaac dooms this character to the bottom of the list.)

Blue Baby (It's Isaac without the D6 and he can't gain heart containers. Are you surprised to find him at the bottom? He's intended to be a challenging character, not a good one.)

The Lost (He dies in one hit, he's intended to be near impossible to beat the game with. Of course he's the worst character.)

Wondering what people think of my opinion, also post your own. Interested to see what people are thinking when it comes to the power of the characters.

P.S: Yes, I saw the favourite character discussion however this isn't about your favourite character, rather ranking the characters in terms of power. Objectively.

1st tier: Azazel. Has to be, even with the D6 still in the game.

2nd tier: Isaac (assuming you have the D6).

3rd tier: Judas. Maybe there's some bias from me because I love Judas, but it seems like soul/black hearts are easier to find in Rebirth. Judas with his health sorted out is this strong.

4th tier: Cain/Samson. I'm dropping Cain (I thought he was the second best character in the first game) because Lucky Foot got nerfed, and his starting range deficency sucks in bigger rooms. Samson got much better in Rebirth. He is a lot of fun for the boss rush.

5th tier: Eve/Maggie/Lazerus: If it weren't for the fact that W**** of Babylon activates at 1 red heart for her, she'd be much lower. I liked her in the first game because Guppy's Paw was so strong with her: I'd take the paw and hang onto it for the rest of the game. It would synergize well with Polaroid, and wasn't too hard to find. Maggie and Lazerus are fairly vanilla to me.

6th tier: ???. No real advantages, although at least there's dark bum?

7th tier: The Lost, because obvjously.

? tier: Eden :)

But on a serious list:

1st tier: Isaac, D6 just too good.

2nd tier: Azazel, would only beat isaac if he didn't have the all holy D6

3rd tier: Judas, I liek my dps

4th tier: ???, I'm serious on this one. As long as you can dodge the poop really helps you out early game

5th tier: Lazuraz, the extra life helps a lil bit but not too much

6th tier: Maggy, no just no. dps/move speed for tanking? hell no ♥♥♥♥♥ wat u thinkin?

7th tier: Eve, she's a portable sacrifice room

8th tier: Eden, He's good but can majorly screw you over

9th tier: The lost unless dead cat then 1st place hands down, I win you loose i'm the king of the castle.

I don't see why people still hate the lost especially now with the spectral tears and Holy Mantle.I didn't alwaysy liked him and he is not in my top for characters but he is a bit fun to play as and even train your dodges.

Look. At. The. Damn. Date. Of. Every. Post.
The Lost didn't have any item to start with nor spectral tears back then. People in 2014 hated him because it was an absolute nightmare to play with him.

lazarus players who don't intentionally suicide on floor 1.

YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG.

substantially better damage and you won't squander any HP up items you might get later by mistake.

especially in afterbirth, you really need to economize red heart pickups and then suicide to the sacrifice room in order to kickstart angel deals or the key pieces ideally.

he's ♥♥♥♥ before revive, decent after.

my list used to be judas #1, cain #2 and isaac #3, but these days judas can't almost always have devil deals so he's probably knocked down from number one, i'd say isaac #1, judas #2 and lazarus or cain for #3 for me.

objectively judas is the best character overall if you make sure to use book of belial twice every floor, some rooms will outright murder you without it otherwise and you have to be accurate, but if you can effectively place nearly every shot he can put down enemies at base stats faster than anyone else.
