Help: Candle damage?

Does anyone know for sure if The Candle is affected by damage upgrades like the Pentagram?
I need to know for sure as there's a pentagram in this devil room right now, and I'm using the Red Candle as my primary weapon due to having no tear upgrades...

i havent gotten the candle in this version of the game but is it a "use" item? if it is a "use" item then those items damage should not be afftected by stats. I'm pretty sure the stats only apply to tears or whatever your tears get turned into depending on your items and stuff

I thought that was the case, though if someone knows for sure that would be great. That run is over anyway, as I picked up the Nail instead because the Wiki says it "gives you 1 soul heart" and it DIDN'T (perhaps it does only if actually used?) so I died :(

Nail gives soul heart on use, not pickup, making it, USUALLY, a really good pick. Alas.

Flame damage is static for the red candle, it deals the same as a campfire (and can be put out the same by crying on it, too).

Blue Candle I haven't unlocked yet (100 more coins!) so I can't tell you on that one.
