Difference Between Evil and Sin?

Sin is that you get a better chance at black heart drops and at deals with the devil. Evil is all most the same in that you also get a better chance at black heart drops and deals with the devil but less chance at deal with the angels and soul heart drops. Maybe evil is just a higher degree of sin.

Do you actually know that for a fact and if so, what's your source?

As far as I know, there's only one item that gives "sin" (Ceremonial Robes). I'm assuming it's just the old name for "evil" and they forgot to change it.

I looked up what Ceremonial Robes does on both the BOIR wiki and platinumgod.co.uk, and it doesn't increase the evil stat at all; rather, it gives a damage up and the 3 black hearts. With that said, I don't think sin is a stat at all - it was just a name given for the effect of the robes.

Yeah, I used to think that more sin (or evil) meant a higher chance of devil rooms appearing, but it's not the case. All it means is that black hearts have been added to your life bar.
