Devil room, pay with red or blue hearts?

i always wondered why there isnt an option. for example there is a mark in the devil room for 1 red heart. right next to the mark is another mark for 2-3 blue hearts (or maybe for 1-3 black hearts?) and if you take one both disappear. i remember some old runs with isaac where i had 2-3 red hearts (health down op) and like 50 blue hearts. and i wasnt able to buy anything from satan or i would die. it would be really cool if you could choose how you pay.

The game already tries to help you out in this sense. If your are all soul heart only, it wont offer you red heart deals anymore. And with the current patch, you can't go negative and kill yourself or loose all of your soul hearts anymore. So if you only have 1 heart and a bunch of soul hearts, taking a 2 red heart brimstone wont kill your or take you to 0 health. Strength cards are a good way to cheese the devil too. And Credit Card, that card is amazing for devil deals.

Devil room items are not supposed to be guaranteed. They already nerfed it a bit by removing debt to the devil.

In Flash Isaac, you could overspend with the devil and go into "debt", meaning you couldn't carry ANY sort of HP until you found enough HP upgrades to repay the devil. In Rebirth, if a devil deal is 2 red hearts while you have 1 red and 3 souls, it'll take 1 red and 1 soul.

By the way, it sounds like you think you die if you have exactly 0 red hearts. Not the case.

i know i dont die but i like to have red hearts. im the person who prefers 12 reds instead of 12 blues. so thats why i want to choose. also when i got 9 red hearts and 3 blue hearts and the boss dropped an hp up im not gonna take it cause it deletes one of my blues. i'd rather spend all 3 blues for devil and then pick up my hp.

Wait...The credit card works with deals with the devil too?

Oh yes it is totally possible and amazing. Free brimstone or mom's knife, or dark bum feels so good.

yea i really pefr using red hearts when paying why would u ever wanna use spirit/evil hearts? pay 1 red or spend 3 spirit? i think red hearts are non existant lategame and i always prefer to be all spirits/evils by endgame unless its a lifesteal with like vamp/fork/and the hp+regen items with maggys faith (maggy faith doubles red heart healing)

In the current patch, Using black hearts to pay you can basically steal all of the other deals. Taking a spirit heart deal you can't afford with black hearts will only take you down to 1/2 a black heart. If one of those deals gives you soul hearts or black hearts then take them last and you can get the others for free.

Red hearts can be useful late game too, I have came across guppy's paw, 2 of hearts, or a sun card in later floors more then I thought I would and having those red hearts have saved my life.
