What does ipecac + brimstone do?

I'm doing a run with ??? and I am finally doing well. Ipecac + 20 soul hearts at the beginning. Now I have the chance to pick up brimstone. What does that do? Does that make ipecac very strong or a very strong brimstone? I like the explosion effect to be honest, to get all secret rooms

I was wondering the same question during the challenge Suicide king so I tried and the result is that brimstone overrides ipecac giving the player a laser with poison

no, because we all know how to use google and just look at the official Wiki page for this game. also, if you actually took 5 minutes to read all the replies this was already stated a bunch of times

I got brimstone followed by ipecac and all it seemed to do was give me poison beams. I didn't notice a substancial increase in damage like I was expecting. but it didnt slow down charge time either.

Very interesting, but it seems you're right. Brimstone overrides it and it gets a chance to poison enemies. That's all. At least that's what the site says. It's not so much a synergy but more of an interaction.

edit: Aight, I've picked up brimstone. I think ipecac would be better, but, i'm still at the beginning and brimstone interacts with a whole lot more than ipecac does so I hope I'll get something like ludovico technique, tammy or polyphemus. I'll let you guys know. At least brimstone is better vs mom.

in afterbirth plus if you get ipecac first and then brimstone you will gain the 40 flat damage from ipecac and then you will also fire a brimstone laser along with the ipecac shots creating an extremely effective synergy.

i just tried in the ipecac+brimstone order. you loose all the damage from ipecac and just keep the poison chance

People get upset when others post repeat topics instead of searching, and people get upset when others continue discussion in old topics instead of creating new ones. You just can't please some people.

To be honest, nobody cares if you're annoyed at people posting in old topics, and nobody cares if you never reply to this thread again. You don't have to announce it and you don't have to state the obvious that someone is replying to an old thread. If Valve or any forum moderators had a problem with people posting in old topics, then they'd have them set to auto-lock after x amount of days without a post. But they don't, and people can post in old topics with out any fear of repercussion from moderators. Crying about people literally using the forums for what they are intended for, is beyond silly. Plus you look dumb when all you can contribute is repeatedly spamming, "omg NECRO!!!". Nobody is forcing you to reply, much less, view this thread.

In Rebirth and Afterbirth, Brimstone overrides Ipecac, but you still retain the poison effect. In AB+, you shoot Ipecac shots while charging your Brimstone.
