And yeah, Bloat is one of the hardest bosses in the game. You can cheese him pretty easily though, just stand on his left/right, just under the brimstone, and move right and left to dodge eyes. Now i get hit twice at the absolute max, but at the beginning I could lose like 8 hearts in 30 seconds. It just takes practice to finally kill him rather quickly.
Unless you get that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ double Bloat room in the Chest
The cage isnt that bad except the fact he has a lot of hp, I can usually dodge his jump attack. The gate is easy imo, his tells arent that bad once you learn his pattern.
That's the only reason why Cage is hard and 2 of them at the same time is not fun. The Gate's beams are unpredictable, the beam's curve is always different.
According to the wiki, the Gate's beam curves to strike any leapers (which it summons) that are in the room at the time (and it pops them). Kill any that it spawns ASAP, and you keep his obnoxious beam under control.
I honestly hadnt realized/noticed that at all until I actually read about it on there.
the hardest for sure
That's bs, I played alot of OP runs where he used his beam without any leapers around.
Seriously, screw those explosive shots.
*shrugs* Look it up yourself, it's right on there. Complete with a picture of it happening (you can see the blood splatters where the leapers are being hit).
Could be a bug if he's doing it without. I dunno. I've never had a problem with that boss.
You never got the bad luck or never had a long fight with him then. And it's not automatically legit just because it's on the game's wiki, it could be written by a guy who knows just as much as you do (no offense).
He fires to hit the leapers he spawned, that's confirmed. But it doesn't have to happen always, if there aren't any leapers around when he shoots, it'll go straight down, so just kill everything and stay away from the middle of the room.
Well I wouldn't complain about him in the first place if the beam was straight, but it's not. I'll try to get a screenshot of it when I get back to it.
Bloat is a PITA, though honestly, I hate Peep more. Peep can show up at a point where you only have access to 5 guaranteed items (3 item rooms, 2 boss rooms), and there are more than enough bad items that you can get easily screwed on it. Bloat shows up very late, and more often than not you are at least equipped to kill him. Even worse, Peep has the same HP as Bloat, so it's always going to take longer to kill, unless you got 0 DPS items in the first 4 floors (not likely given that a good chunk of boss drops are damage boosts), and tends to have a more annoying arena (that room with two vertical rock lines gets all my hate). Champion Peep is easily the worst Caves boss, it's basically Bloat without the Brimstone, which is honestly the least aggravating part of the fight to begin with.
I have never, ever had problems with the Gate, I always assumed it was a gimme boss (I would call him the Pin of Depths/Necro if Loki didn't exist) until I saw people hating on it.
