How does the bloodbag work?

I tried pressing spacebar, expecting it to give me five hearts like the wiki says it would, but it did absolutely nothing. What am I doing wrong?

Blood Bag is a passive, not a spacebar. You must be thinking of the IV Bag, which is essentially a portable blood donator. I don't think you can use it at a half red heart or less.

god people can't read the wiki, the blood bag gives you 1 hearth container and refill 5 hearths, the IV bag cost half a hearth and gives you money each time

There are two types of blood bags. The first blood bag which looks like a full blood bag gives you increased hp and heals you if you have taken damage. The second blood bag is actually called an IV bag and looks half full, with a needle. That one is a spacebar item that acts like a blood donor machine that gives you money in return.
