Dark Bum is awesome!

He's similar to the Bum friend familiar but instead of collecting coins he collects hearts and for every full heart he eats he'll give you a spirit heart.
Seems a little OP because it made my playthrough a breeze but still pretty awesome.

You mean soul hearts? What's so special about them. Sure, they are slightly more useful than regular hearts, but not all that impressive, is it? If you'd get eternal hearts that would be another story. Or sometimes the evil hearts. They are nice too.

You do get evil hearts from him is the thing.

Also if you're running with low life containers/none at all, or even just constantly have full HP, he turns all those otherwise near-useless heart drops into rewards for you.

If you take him to a super secret room, one of those with the uterus background and full of hearts, it will take all of them but apparently give you nothing. Wait until new hearts appear, let him take all and go outside the room. He will then give you a ton of blue hearts at once.

Dark Bum at the start of the game (early stages in the game when you are just start playing) is very good, however he can become annoying when he drops spiders that damage your health instead of soul hearts or dark hearts (if you are unlucky that is).

Dark Bum has good synrgies with Little C.H.A.D, Gimpy and Humbling Bundle

He's amazing. Definitely a game winning item, I almost never fail to win a run once I get dark bum.
