left corner heart/star in character menu ?
what does it mean ? and i also have a character with a heart and under that heart is a star. could anybody explain ?

means which bosses you've beaten with that character. Heart = mom's heart, etc.

Useful because some items only unlock after beating certain bosses with certain chars

I believe that the star represents a completed Boss Rush with that character.
