e.g. 1 player could have wasd+ijkl with e for bomb/tab for map, etc and the 2nd player could have tfgh and the arrow keys with y for bomb or something (though iirc they actually removed player 2 being able to bomb in the recent patch anyway?). The point is, the keybindings for each player can't overlap.
The question then is how to trick the game into letting the 2nd player join with said alternate keyboard controls. This can be done via a program like VJoy[headsoft.com.au] and setting up the 2nd player's controls via VJoy. There's probably several other programs floating around that can do this too, but this one has been around for quite a while and is known to work in general.
Essentially, the game will think you have a keyboard and a controller, but in reality it will just be keyboard inputs, which some of the keyboard inputs being converted to controller inputs just so that the game allows them. This could even be done with just one keyboard, however it wouldn't be very practical, the 2nd keyboard is purely to make it more practical to actually play with.
