The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Am I missing something? (serious question)
It looks like basically slightly reskinned Isaac with few new items. What are those groundbreaking features everyone is hyped about? What makes this worth a new pricetag instead of being DLC for example?

I am not trying to offer, I believe it might be worth it. Just need someone more knowledgeable to change my opinion, haha. I played tons of Isaac and it was amazing game.

The thing is that binding of issac motor was made in flash . So it was pretty hard to make DLC to it . So they just made a new motor to add more upgrades :)
More Items, new mechanics, new enemies, new soundtrack, new engine (thank god Flash is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gone), native controller support...theres really a lot that has changed. If that's worth 10 bucks for you, only you can decide

But these stuff (like 450+ items) are recycled from the old one, right? Seeded runs are pretty cool if that means randomly generated rooms. Other stuff seem kinda similar to the old Isaac (but co-op I can imagine being worth it alone for some people). I guess I'll wait a bit for some reviews and if it good I'll go ahead and buy it :)

First off, the game is completely rewritten in a new engine, so we done have to deal with crappy flash anymore, which in itself almost is worth it imo ;D

And even more than all the new items alot of old items have new working combinations(Instead of one item overwriting the old) that will make for alot more intresting gameplay.

Local coop if you have a friend thats enjoys Isaac isnt that bad either!

It's true that engine sucked hard, I remember it sometimes lagging my gaming laptop which runs Crysis 3 semi-well :-D

"It looks like basically slightly reskinned Isaac with few new items" Yep you've just heared about this game,if you followed the updates and news this year (which are a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lot) you would know that this is isaac, without glitches, bugs,no flash engine,a new engine that allows Ed to add all the items he wants,3 times the size of isaac+wotl combined AND already planned DLCs.

Yeah, flash is really crappy.

And yeah, pretty much all the old items is still there but there will be alot new ones also.

But the thing im mostly hyped about is the possibilty of new combinations. Not that i think it will be so good but for an example, Ipecac(Explosive big green pukeballs) and Quadshot will work(I belive)

Same as Brimstone(Pew pew laser) and Spoon Bender(?)(Homing Shots)

Alot of combos like that

No. The original Isaac + WOTL had 198 items. In other words, there are at least 252 new items.

Also, in Rebirth, everything will synergize, meaning that no items will overwrite each other. Mutant Spider + Brimstone? You get 4 lasers. Spoon Bender + Technology 2? You will be constantly hitting every enemy in the room.

Seeded runs are where you enter a "seed" (a number) and it will generate your run based on that seed. If you enter the same seed twice, you will get the exact same run twice.

Rebirth will also have native controller support and run at a constant 60 FPS.

Well for one Ed can't make anymre DLC for classic Issac since due to the version of Flash they used for it anytime they try to up the file size past a certain point it just corrupts the SWF, they bearly were able to pull of Wraith of the lamb. Plus there was also many limits on what they were able to do with the Flash version only so many types of room layouts, so many enimes on screen, ect. Which thanks to the new engine they can go all out.

So it's not really a reskin of the old game with some added content since thanks to the new engine they made alot of changes, items have been rebalanced, some bosses have been changed for example Mom's heart now has a bullet hell attack http://i.imgur.com/bO9rV9T.png, according to Ed the Blue Baby fight is diffrent(no longer just a buffed version of the Issac fight), there are new room types, more varied room layouts, ect.

It is basically another BoI game added ontop of the original and WOTL with local coop and a new engine.

I see Rebirth as an sequel to the original Isaac + Wrath of the lamb.

It's going to be a whole new game. And no more flash!!!

new engine, NOT ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ FLASH

Without going too far into details, a "seed" is used to generate random numbers in a program. For every given seed, you'll always end up with the same sequence of random numbers (so they're actually not random at all).

So this means there are more than 4 billion possible/different combinations/games in there. The program shows you the actual seed being used for your game, so you're later on able to essentially replay that particular game/dungeon as often as you want (without unlocking anything or achievements though).

I know, but unless the rooms are random, then dungeons were already random in first Isaac. It wouldn't be much different, except that now you can share seeds.
