8gb RAM?
Does it really recommend having that much RAM? Can we assume that means you can only run Uber-Lowest-Trash-Tier settings if you don't have that much?

Almost certain they're just overshooting the RAM requirements, just like a lot of other developers do. It's safe to say that as long as you have 2-4 GB of RAM it'll be runnable.

If you can run the original, you can run Rebirth better.

I hope you are right about that.

It'll probably be like Watch Dogs, so you need at least 32 GB of RAM to run it :P

Why do people keep assuming it's wrong. This is the third topic I've seen on here where people just assert, with no evidence, it is either a joke or they are being conservative.

It hurts their sales to joke, lie, or exaggerate system specs. What's likeliest is that, with graphics at max, the game requires a lot of ram. The game has scalable graphics as the PS Vita version will be missing some of the effects in the PS4 and PC version. When Edmund says that anyone running the original half decently should run Rebirth no problem, it makes more sense that he is talking about reducing the graphics than the company getting their game's recommended system specs wrong.

I have no evidence to say it won't, but I also know how computers work well enough to know that it's pretty fucking absurd.

Even with all the settings on max, I doubt it'll push more than 4 GB of RAM on its own.

They also may take into account that some people run Windows 8, which pretty much requires 4gigs of RAM on it's own. If the game on max setting would require 4 gigs, then we have an 8 gig requirement

Well, I'm using Windows 8.1, and I have steam, chrome with 3 tabs, and ArcheAge (max settings) running in the background. 3.4 GB of 7.9 GB in use.

Windows 8(.1) only requires 2 GB (64bit) to run, and even that's a bit of an overestimate.

So, what about those of us who haven't been able to afford to upgrade our systems? Those with XP or Vista, and lower than 8gb of RAM. Is it really just an overestimate for those OS systems or does it likely demand such a high amount?

I think you're looking too much at the recommended specs than at the minimum specs. The minimum specs are extremely low and modest. Plus, this game can run on a PS Vita. I know the architecture is different, but its RAM and VRAM are incredibly low. You're probably fine.

I only ask as I used to run the original on High and would get some framerate issues and heavy lag with tons of enemies/projectiles on screen. Didn't know if I could even run a medium setting on this one with the recommended as they are.

We won't know until it comes out, but the graphics settings shouldn't be a priority. It's nice to max it out, but if you can't then that's okay too. Kind of the whole purpose of PC gaming is being able to run on a wide range of machines, and being able to upgrade with no backwards compatibility issues. Also, the prices, man.

Oh, I get that. I don't look to max it out, I just want to know if I can run it decently at all. I fear that even Low would choke my system, thus I felt the need to ask.

Those system requirements posted were with 60 FPS in mind (even the minimum), since that's the framerate cap. I don't know your PC specs, but that might give you some peace. It's on a whole new engine, so a lot of the slowdown issues from the original won't even be an issue.

Edmund said Rebirth will run on most computers so if your computer is ok then you should be able to run it.
