Really?
Besides, I think the people you're gonna show this to are more likely to question why this child is shooting his own tears, has a coat hanger in his skull, or toothpicks in his eyes, is wearing the Mark of the Beast, or wearing lipstick, heels, and a bra.
Yes, because if you were to show this game to someone else it wouldn't be the implications of child abuse, religious imagery or dark humour that would drive them away, it would definately be the poop jokes.
If you have to make excuses for the games you like then I don't think you're quite as mature as you'd like to believe you are, you shouldn't need someone else's approval to enjoy a particular game, film, book, piece of music etc.
You should be able to enjoy something for your own sake.
You don't speak for all adults, and not every aspect of a game has to tie directly to the narrative (things meant to be humourous often don't).
I would say that there's no mature reason not to either but I don't know how you define maturity.
False, a fictional character doesn't do anything (autonomous or not) unless it's mentioned or displayed because, and this is important to remember, they don't bloody exist.
If it makes you feel better to imagine your character using the loading times to use the toilet and grab a quick glass of water then that's your perogitive but that doesn't change the fact that a fictional character does not exist outside of their narrative and therefore cannot take actions outside of it (whether this would coincide with reality or not).
I disagree with you (especially on what would qualify as fetishistic) but for the sake of arguement, how do you define maturity?
If you're going to make an arguement about why you feel something is immature you should at the very least have a clear definition in place.
And if people wanted to make moulting jokes then that would be just as fine as making poop jokes.
It's just that the audience for that is probably smaller.
And so what if it's childish?
You have yet to explain why this is a negative trait, there are times when a bit of immaturity or childishness can be refreshing, not everything has to be of the utmost seriousness.
Not edgy, just silly.
If you have a problem with silliness in a game then might I reccomened you look for something else?
Edmund used to be a big Newgrounds contributor. Edmund probably draws inspiration from Tom Fulp, which I believe Behemoth Games Project 4 has poop as a defensive trait.
True, there are some gamers that are too uncomfortable playing his games. I am not saying that gamers should "suck it up". His design style runs on both the immature and obscene; his design is intentionally prohibitive. I am pretty sure that he would rather sacrifice some profits just so that some people would be offended.
Would I intentionally exclude certain sensablities in my video game? I don't know. I still like BOI with its deviant style.
Therefore, poop is not only a mechanic but is thematically relavant to the game. GTFO.
